I had to ask my chemistry prof. It is an x with a solid box to the top right of the x.

The answer is beyond the range of the calculator so you will get an error. The answer is about 5.516xE216

You want to enter an exponential of some sort. There is a key for that function. Look for the natural logarithm function whose key is marked [LN]. The exponential function key is accessed through [2nd] or [Shift] followed by [LN].
If exponent is negative, use the change sign key (-) or +/- to enter the negative sign, followed by the exponent.

### How do i enter an exponent on the

It depends on the base of the power function.
For exponential function use [SHIFT][LN] (e^x) followed by the exponent value. If exponent is negative use the change sign +/- key before exponent.
For a general power, type in the base (number), then press the [Y^x] key followed by the exponent.
For a power of 10, use the [Exp] key. Careful here. For example to enter 1.6x10^(-19), type in 1.6, press the [Exp] key, then the change sign key +/- and the exponent. Press [=]
1 . 6 [Exp] +/- 19 [=]

To enter powers of trigonometric functions you must enclose the functions in parentheses and then apply the exponent to the whole. For example X1t =(sin T)^3 , Y1t=(cos T)^3 will give you a shape similar to a rhombus with concave sides. The symbol ^syands for the operation of raising to a power. The key is the one with the caret symbol ^ , and it is wedged between the xsqure and EXIT keys (third row of keys).
As regards the cotangent, use the equivalent definition cot(X)=1/tan(X).

Make sure you use the (-) key in the left column above the RCL key to enter negative exponents, not the - key which subtracts.

Do get all results in decimal instead of fraction notation, press SHIFT [SETUP] 2 to select LineIO mode.

### How do you raise to a power on a Sharp el-738 business calculato?

I don't know about this specific calculator, but there is probably a button on your calculator that has a "y" with an "x" as a superscript (exponent). Or is could be reversed. But you wanted 2^8, you would push the 2 first, then the exponent button, then the 8, and there's your answer.

Good luck.

### Multiplying exponential numbers

I am needing to find out what key I can push for an exponent. I have an exponent that is 2520 and I dont know what button to push for it.

The problem is as follows:

3000 ( 1+ 0.06/360) exp.2520

3000 ( 1.000166667) exp. 2520

3000 - 4565.72

1565.72

Now how in the world did they get 4565.72. What buttons am I needing to push.

### How to enter 2.5x10 (exponent 8)/2.25 x10 (exponent5)

Key sequence is:

2.5
X
8
2nd
10 to the power x
/
2.25
X
5
2nd
10 to the power x
=

Unless you mean (2.5x10 (exponent 8))/(2.25 x10 (exponent5)), in which case you need to change the last "X" in the sequence to "/", or stick the appropriate brackets into the sequence.

Note that exponents are like trig functions, enter value first, then the operator, so 10 (exponent 8) is entered as "8", "2nd", "10 to power x", just like sin 60 is entered "60", "SIN"
