go to folder options there you will be having the option to change it "open in same window" or to "open in different window"..

if the same problem persists then i am sure your system has got attack with virus may be as i think it is trojan ...
you install a good antivirus and remove that virus first then also if you face the same problem means that is due to missing of some files which are needed for that operation so you have to reinstall the OS...
just have a check before that in that drive there is any file named "autorun.inf" if so delete it ...
    this solves your problem,.....

Code 28

In most cases this problem code 28 occurs when Windows 2000 is upgraded to Windows XP and the sound card driver becomes deleted. To resolve this problem on your Windows XP. Right click "My computer" and select the "Manage" tab. This will open a window. In the left pane of the Windows click on "Device Manager". On the right side of the Window you will see a list of generic devices installed on your computer. In the list double click on "Sound Video and Game controllers". Once you see your sound card you right click it and on the opened window click on the Update tab. In most cases the code 28 problem is resolved that way but if rarely the problem still continues try downloading and reinstalling the sound card driver.

Good Luck!

Installing windows xp on hp pavilion dv 6516 tx

I'm not sure solution #1 is very explanatory, so....

IF you want to install XP on your computer, Windows XP will load most of the drivers you need automatically.
For the drivers that are specific to your HP pavilion
you will be able to download device drivers from HP website
or, request a driver CD

When XP is installed [assuming you or someone can do that]
you can:
Go to the 'My Computer' icon [right-click]
Choose:
  • 'Properties'
  • Then Choose 'Hardware'
  • Finally, choose 'Device Manager'
Here you will have a list of all your hardware
If you have any drivers that need to be installed, there should be
a yellow (?) question mark by the name of the hardware

Most devices/hardware will be handled by XP SP2
The default drivers will be loaded automatically
For example, your keyboard:

e83fe6a.jpg

Above you see the window that opens if I double-click on
the 'Keyboard' icon.

For XP to function, you only have to worry about the ones
with the yellow (?) question mark

Or, if you want to add a specific driver, like a Video or Sound driver, but you don't see a yellow (?) question mark
you can still install/update the driver at the 'driver' tab
[second tab in the picture above]

If you need more specific help I can do that too
