When you conference two lines or more together you get what you call line loss which makes the audio levels deteriorate. So to conference yourself and three others properly you may have to try a few different options to get the performance you want out of the conference call. Many phones/phone systems have three way calling which connects you and two others, so depending on the calls you wish to connect, an option would be to have one of your callers actively participate in the conference connection procedure. For example. You have a two line phone with a conference feature. So you call person A on one line and person B on the other, then hit the conference key. Now you have "Y" (yourself) and person A and B speaking together via the conference feature on your telephone. Now all you need is person A or B to have the same two line setup with the conference feature and they make the third call to person C and hit their conference button, now all four (Y,A,B&C) of you all talking together. If it is not possible to have one of the callers do this, you will need to have at least three phone lines and a phone that will enable you to have four way calling. However, you may want to dial 611 from your telephone, and try to get to a service rep., your local phone company may have some options for you. However, rather than investing in costly phone equipment, it might be cheaper to use a call conferencing service. They are fairly cost effective, and you basically have the three other partys call a toll free number at a specified time and you call get conferenced together for a fee. And last, you may want to research some VOIP options if all the partys have high speed connections. Good Luck

I cant send a fax or reseave one

Sir/Madam

Solution one: Check the fax connections Use the following steps to check the physical connections, and then use the HP Fax Test Service.

Step one: Check the physical connections

  1. Disconnect the telephone cord from the HP fax product, and then examine the connector on the end of the cord. Make sure that the cord has only two wires. Figure 1: Two-wire telephone cord

  1. Four-wire telephone cordGraphic: Four-wire telephone cordIf the cord has four wires, replace it with a two-wire phone cord.
If you must use a cord with four wires, use the converter that shipped with product. The converter allows a cord with four wires to work with a device that requires a cord with two wires.
  2. Connect one end of the telephone cord to the telephone jack, and then connect the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.

If other devices need to use the same telephone jack, make sure that they are connected to the 2-Ext port on the back of the HP fax product.

  2. Pick up the telephone receiver and listen for a dial tone. Make sure that you can dial out using the telephone keypad.
If there is a dial tone and you can dial out using the telephone, the HP fax product is connected correctly to a working telephone cord and telephone jack. If there is no dial tone, check the configuration again and make sure that it is set up correctly. If You Still Having Hp Printer Problem Then Visit Official HP Printer Website On Below Link URL http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02263145

Hi irwinbadin,

HP fax products are designed so that other telephone equipment can be connected on the same line as the fax. The unit must be connected first using a two-conductor fax/phone cable like the one that shipped with the HP product. Using a four-conductor telephone cable may cause problems receiving faxes or calls.

There are two different types of phone cables. There are two-conductor phone cables like what originally shipped with the HP fax product and there are four-conductor cables. HP fax products are designed to work with a two-conductor phone cable. Look at the end of the cable and verify that it has only two copper leads or wires. Replace any four-conductor cables with a two-conductor cable. Only two-conductor phone cables should be used to connect the all-in-one to the phone line.

Figure 1: The difference between a two-conductor phone cable and a four-conductor phone cable

Step one: Connect the phone line to the fax
The fax will have two or three sockets (or jacks) for phone lines. Some of these may have a removable plastic plug in them. These sockets will be labeled with text, To Wall Jack , or with a graphic of the wall jack. See Figure 1 below.

Plug the two-conductor telephone cable that came with the HP product into the telephone wall jack. Then, plug it into this socket as shown below.

In areas with above ground telephone lines and electrical storms (lightning), it is a good idea to purchase a telephone line surge suppressor and connect it between the telephone wall jack and the fax. This will help prevent damage to the fax from a lightning-caused power surge on the phone line.

Step two: Add other phone-line devices
To connect other telephone devices, use the other socket (or sockets) on the fax. These are identified by text or with a graphic of a telephone and/or computer.

Connect a caller ID unit between the fax and the telephone.
Use the information below that matches the devices you need to connect.

Fax and telephone
Connect a single-line telephone to one of the added sockets on the fax. The telephone will share the same phone line as the fax. See the illustration below.

When a telephone answering machine and telephone are connected, connect the answering machine to the fax and then connect the telephone to the answering machine as shown below.

Fax and computer modem
To use a fax and a computer modem on the same phone line, connect the fax to the computer modem. The modem socket on the computer may be labeled Line or Wall jack .

Fax, computer modem, and telephone
To use a computer modem and a telephone with the fax, connect the computer modem to the fax. Then, connect the telephone into the second phone line connector on the computer modem or the third fax socket (if it is available). The image below shows how to connect a computer and a telephone to a fax with two sockets.

Fax, modem, answering machine, and telephone
The image below shows how to connect a computer modem, answering machine, and telephone to a fax. Connect the computer modem to the fax, then connect the answering machine to the computer, and finally, connect the telephone to the answering machine.
If the fax has three phone line sockets instead of two, some of the devices can be connected to the other phone socket on the fax.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have been on many sites with Cat 5 systems. What I cannot understand is why are the sockets numbered oddly i.e 1--6 2--7 3--8 etc. Instead of 1--2 3--4 5--6 etc.

Not sure if I understand your question.
Cat 5 (and higher) cables consist of four twisted pairs. The idea is, that disturbances by magnetic fields compensate each other this way. I suppose that the arrangement of the wire on the plugs and jack come from good ols analogue days, where the telephone-call was only on two wires (=one pair). To keep it as undisturbed as possible, the center of the plug (pins 4 and 5 on a rj45) was used. The next pair was spread over them and therefore used pins 3 and 6. Pair three was put on pin 1 and 2, and pai four on pins 7 and 8.

Have a MIRELV-600M with 2 MA-R in a 4 way situation. Lutron tech support has given us a different wiring solution each time we call but it still does not work. They say that these product are compatible to...

The best I can do is tell you how a 3 way and a 4 way switching circuit works, once you understand that all you have to do is throw in the dimmer (note: you can only have one dimmer in a circuit, the rest of the switches must be simple on and off switches). I did some research on the dimmers you purchased to use, and it claims that the accessory dimmers can be used along with the MIRELV's as you have said but in my experience when you try to do something like that, one dimmer would have to know what the other two are doing, and that is not happening, and unless the current is electronically controlled on the whole circuit by each dimmer, you'll never get all three dimmers to work.. So lets see if we can get it wired properly and get it to work, if not you will have to try using one dimmer and two regular switches and see if it resolves your problem. In every four way circuit there is at least 2 three way switching devices, one at the beginning of the circuit where the power comes in and one at the end of the circuit where the power goes out to the lights. You can have numerous 4 way devices in the middle of the two three way devices. So let start at the first 3 way device, which will have three terminals one it. Every three way switching device has whats called a common terminal, this is where your incoming power attaches. Then you have 2 "traveling" terminals where your traveling wires will connect (called this because your power will travel to or communicate with your four way switch through these wires (note: you cannot mix these wires up or your circuit will not work). Order doesn't matter at the three way, but at the four way you need to keep them straight; there are four terminals on your four way switch designed to pass the current along that you fed it from the three way. The are two types of four way terminals, some times incoming wires go on top or bottom terminals, sometimes on left or right side. Either way if incoming wires are on top and you have red wire on one side and black on the other when power leaves at the bottom you keep the colors on the same side (Note: all these concept apply if your dimmers have pigtail wires to attach the wires to as well). And once you get to you final three way switch you want to keep the traveling wire colors the same as the terminals on the first three way switch. The power will leave this last switch and go out to your lights through the common terminal. If your dimmers happen no to work, remove two devices and replace with two normal switches, just make sure they are three way or four way switches as needed (remember four ways go in the middle of two three ways). Three way switching and four way switching is very confusing, and I know the Lutron company won't try to explain how things work, just take your time with it.
