Samsung HLN467W 46 in problem

The problem we have is the screen is going to black with a ghosting of the last moving image. The non-moving image is pure black and white. the lamp is still lit and it is bright white, and we have sound for the channnel it is set on. I can turn off the tv by the remote or pull the plug because sometime the remote will not turn this off. when we turn it off we let it stay off for about one -two minutes, and the full HD image comes back. It may be fine for sometimes up to 2,3, or 4 hours, or sometimes we only get 1/2 hour, before it goes to black and white. I don't think this is a lamp problem because we're not getting the fast blink of the led's on the front panel. Appreciate any help thanks By the feedback, someone sugested that the DMD board is bad. If this is the case is there a Samsung part I can get and install. Steve

The Problem is that the picture goes to pure black background with white ghosting of the last moving image. It stays on the screen as a non-moving image with the audio continuing to work on the channel that was selected when it went into this mode. I have had the color wheeel replaced one time when we were getting a whinning sound from the set. Also, the lamp has never been replaced and this set was purchased in december of 2003. The lamp seems to be OK, as I said the image is pure Black and white when this happens and when we turn the unit off and reset it the full moving color image comes back, it just doesn't last.....Steve

Does the image stay frozen on the screen while the audio continues? If so there is a common complaint with the Samsung DLPs needing new Digital boards. Hope this helps. I can post the board number and link for a replacement if the picture freezes with the audio still working. If the picture just drops off the color that would be your color wheel.Let me know if I can assist you further.

If your lamp lights and yourcolor wheel spins you can rule out the DM module. All indicators point to a defective digital board. smsung has had quite a few problems with the digital board, quite a few TSS logs regarding the digital boards failure.

I would contact amsung from the info I have heard, this is a on going fix for the Dlp models tey may offer free replacement parts as here are numerous complaints on video delay that you are describing which also prevents the set from powering off. Check with samsung explain the delay your experiencing some boards have been replaced free of charge

Hi there

as johnychel suggested, it may actually work. but we are not entirely sure that this may solve your exact problem.

as you mentionedthe DMD board probably need some troubleshooting for some bad diodes and resistors. what you can do is readily bring your tv to a service center have it checked. This may be the best thing you can do for now because tv sets are very particular appliances that needs some troubleshooting. have your board checked as well as any other faults you may thing your tv has.

hope this helps you in any way. thanks ^_^

Lamp, Colour Wheel, DMD Board, or the set is filthy from dust buildup in the
optics block (Light Engine). Seen quite a few items, not all Samsung, that
actually shut down because they could not breathe any more. The fans,
cooling ducts, and housings were so choked with dust that they just quit
working.

Those other problems could cause a variety of symptoms. But this
specific description (dim and fluctuating) is almost certainly a bulb on
the verge of failure.

cost details :
$750 DMD board , $250 lamp

as i think DLP is gone ... just have a check correctly wit technician before replacing it......

If the problem is not from the lamp, the only place that you can check is a DMD board, i dont know how much it cost but you dont have to buy it brand new, it could be used but in a good format.
or You can take your TV to Best Buy, their going to fix it for you in a good way and with a good price, most of the TVs problem is the lamp. I hope my answer helped you for something.
Thank you
