I have the same problem, had my LG 42PX5D for almost 2 years, only just connected my first HDMI input. (xbox 360) the sound does exactly as you say, comes and goes, and crackles when it's there. I've tried two different cables, both do same, so plugged my xbox 360 into friends hdmi and it works fine. It looks like it's the port itself on the TV. I called LG and because it's only a 12 month warranty, they're not interested!!! I'm not happy this will have been like this since new and i can't do anything about it!! Does anyone have any other ideas?

you need to contact an engineer, luckily for me I had extra cover! Apparantly it is a common fault on this model t.v. It is a cable inside the t.v that needs to be screened & Earthed! When I first told the engineers, they were flobbing me off with " it must be your hdmi dvd mate" I said it isn't as this is a brand new model and it did exactly the same with the last one! Don;t let them flob you off, LG know about this problem! (I forget the exact name but another engineer when I told him the trouble said "Oh! that is what that item is for that he had been given" It works great now! they must have fitted about £200 worth of stuff before installing this screened and earthed cable inside the t.v. hope this helps!

Try another HDMI cable. I see them bad often, especially new.

How to plug in wii or dvd player to my tv

For the Wii, you need to purchase a different connection cable. It will come with the green, blue, and red video + red and white audio connectors. For the DVD, if it doesn't have HDMI output, you'll need to get a converter box or a new DVD player.

Color distortion when playing DVDs

If the player has other outputs try connecting the player to the tv using one of them, ie: use the A/V output instead of HDMI from the player. If the problem goes away there is something wrong with the input on the tv.

Unable to get TV sound and dvd sound through the surround sound speakers with samsung compatible tv and blu ray player

Hi,Even though you have not mentioned about the cabling connections you have done, for the sake of correct connection I describe all the possible cabling alternatives to you..You can select whichever you want..

TO WATCH DVD ON THE TV:
** Receiver's "AUDIO and VIDEO OUTPUT as " 2xRCA Audio+1x Video " or "Optic Cable OUTPUT or " HDMI Output " of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary cables on your hand )
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio+ Video input s " as can either be : 3xRCA jacks or "Optic cable input " or HDMI IN connector of your TV ,
** than just switch to DVD mode on Receiver and play DVD
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

TO LISTEN YOUR TV ON SURROUND SYS.
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : 2xRCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or HDMI connector of your TV ,
** to Receiver's "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
or HDMI of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary
cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective SOURCE mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

Pls remember.."IN " goes to "OUT" or vice versa..all the times..

There you go..Both Tv and DVD sound are on the
Receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV will come thru your Receiver's SURROUNDING SOUND speakers as well .

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care

LD4088 LCD will not play sound via HDMI cables. Component cables are fine. Hear a faint "click" from speaker when switching to HDMI input. Have tried all three HDMI connectors and have tried...

This is how AUDIO works in HDMI setup, you can select the source to send the digital audio along with the digital video through HDMI, the receiving end HDMI sound setup must be set to receive the digital audio through HDMI. Otherwise the audio may be sent and received through analog audio ports (Red (Right channel) and White (Left channel) RCA jacks) in stead. Most of the new TV and DVD player use auto detection.
So please check the HDMI audio setup to see how the audio signals are set to be processed.

Please leave rating if it helps.

How do i hook my dvd player to my tv? i have no manual to show me where to plug the wires into the back of my tv.i have a proscan 32LB30Q LCD

Hello pebbles12137,

This depends on what you want to do SD or HD

First if you just want to connect for SD only

Here are Three ways:

1) connect the coaxial cable to the DVD player F-connector (sliver screw connector) and the to the TV's Antenna in F-connector.

2) connect the yellow, red and white RCA connector end wires to the yellow, red, and white RCA Jacks of the TV Yellow (video in), Red (Right Audio in), White (Left Audio in) do the same for the other end into the DVD player (Best SD Method)

3) connect the svideo cable into the s-video socket of the TV and the other end to the s-video socket of the DVD player

For HD, Here are the connection methods:

1) Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI in of the TV (HDMI1)and the other end of the HDMI cable into the DVD player. (best HD method)

2) connect the Component video cable (RGB) into the RGB sockets of the TV (should be marked as Component 1) and connect the other end to the DVD player (using this method you will have to connect the Red and White audio cables to the audio input jacks of the TV from the audio out of the DVD player)

These are the SD and HD methods.

I would suggest using the HDMI cables only, its the best choice and the simplest.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Lcd tv hookup

Ive got 3 samsung tv's (lcd, plasma, DLP) and I use HDMI cables on all of them. Its the only way to get the full potential out of the tv. When you use the red/white/yellow RCA cables the signal is anolog aka "old technology". Component cables are good but HDMI is the best. HDMI is a digital signal and thats what all the components that go with the tv should be run on. If your dvd player does not have an HDMI output I would suggest getting one that has that output. As for the cable box most require you to upgrade to digital cable in order to get one with an HDMI output. If you dont want to spend the money on new components and run what you have now the picture will stay mediocre at best. Good luck hope this helped

How do i connect my dvd player?

It depends on what outputs your DVD player has and what inputs your TV has.
If your DVD player has HDMI outputs and your TV has a HDMI input then you will need to purchase a HDMI cable and connect the 2.
If either your DVD or TV does not have HDMI then you will need to move on to either a component video cable which has 3 cables on the end which are colored red, blue and green. You will also need to connect for audio which is a cable with 2 colors, red and white.
There are also s-video and the regular old way of connecting which is a 3 cable design which has a yellow end for video and a white and red end for audio.

If you need any more help or can offer more info on what connections your TV and DVD player have then I would be happy to help.

HDMI->DVI cable won't work

Are you using a HDMI to DVI cable or are you using a HDMI to DVI adapter? Sometimes, though not on all products you have to go into the menu and select which out put your using for each source and whats going through it. You might need to go into your dvd player menu and tell it not to try to run audio through the cable. That way it's not trying to force a signal through the cable that cant be accepted by the TV. That might possible solve your problem for the DVD player. Let me know if it works

Sound problems with Insignia Flat Screen 37

It may be that the set is set for alt sound. go to the menu and set the audio to stereo. If the audio is set wrong it thinks you are set for spanish and if the broadcast is not in an alt language there will be no sound.
