I have the same problem, had my LG 42PX5D for almost 2 years, only just connected my first HDMI input. (xbox 360) the sound does exactly as you say, comes and goes, and crackles when it's there. I've tried two different cables, both do same, so plugged my xbox 360 into friends hdmi and it works fine. It looks like it's the port itself on the TV. I called LG and because it's only a 12 month warranty, they're not interested!!! I'm not happy this will have been like this since new and i can't do anything about it!! Does anyone have any other ideas?

you need to contact an engineer, luckily for me I had extra cover! Apparantly it is a common fault on this model t.v. It is a cable inside the t.v that needs to be screened & Earthed! When I first told the engineers, they were flobbing me off with " it must be your hdmi dvd mate" I said it isn't as this is a brand new model and it did exactly the same with the last one! Don;t let them flob you off, LG know about this problem! (I forget the exact name but another engineer when I told him the trouble said "Oh! that is what that item is for that he had been given" It works great now! they must have fitted about £200 worth of stuff before installing this screened and earthed cable inside the t.v. hope this helps!

If both the VCR and TV have HDMI connectors its as simple as connecting an HDMI cable from the VCR HDMI output to an HDMI input on the TV.

How do I connect a Pioneer S508 amplifier to a Samsung Bluray DVD player?

This is a common problem. Not all models of DVD players have analog audio connections.

The image of the back of the DVD is suppose to be a BD5700?

The connections AUX on the amp and the connections audio out red and white RCA connector are connected with a audio cable.
The images marked with the red are these locations
If your model of DVD player does not have a set of red/white audio connectors you have two other choices.
  1. If TV is connected via HDMI that the audio is included to the TV. The TV will likely have a set of red/white audio "out" RCA connectors that would connect into the Pioneer.
  2. Purchase a specific powered adapter that takes the Optical audio signal and converts to a analog RED/White RCA connector that will connect via audio cables into the AUX of the Pioneer,

How do you hook up the DVD player when you have AT&T cable running to the TV? There doesn't seem to be a schematic on where what goes to what? If you have it on print, can you please send to me email?...

Without having the model# of the TV or what connections are available I cannot go into details, BUT
A DVD player will need both Video and Audio connections connected to your TV. Depending on what connections are available on the back of your TV you have a few options
  • Composite Video (Yellow RCA connector)
  • SVideo (round 4 pin connector)
  • Component Video (Red/Blue/Green 3 RCA Connectors)
  • HDMI (flat rectangular digital connector)

Take a look on the back of your TV and see what types of these are available (or provide me your Model#)
HDMI will give you these highest quality signal....Composite Video the lowest

With all of the connections mentioned (except HDMI, HDMI has audio signal built in) you will ALSO need to connect the audio connection from the DVD to the TV as well (red/white RCA connectors)

I hope this helps,

When i use a hdmi cable in my samsung dvd hd860 there is no sound, why is this

I had a Samaung DVD VR-375 and it plugged straight in and had video and sound both with one HDMI cable. BUT I also have 2 new LCD TV's that provide and additional audio hookup to go with the HDMI hookup. Look for an audio OUTPUT ( L and R) from your Samsung HD860 and electrically connect it to your TV input associated with HDMI marked L and R.

I have no sound from my samsung tv to Samsung HT-TZ315R/XEU i have connected with hdmi and the white and red plugs i have sound from the dvd player but not the tv any suggestions

Make sure the red & white connectors you are using on the TV are actually audio out, and not audio in. If you are using the connectors on the side of the tv (adjacent to the yellow connector), then these are inputs.

If your TV has no audio out connectors, then if you have a European TV, you can use one of the scart connectors with an adaptor.

Also, check the red & white connectors you are using on the home theatre system are inputs. Also check the source is set correctly.

HDMI compatible?

yes the DVD player will work on it thru HDMI to DVI connector but however the audio is not carried on DVI so you will have to have a seperate audio cables. also the 1080p signal is not supported by this set 1080i only.
