My old GE G-136-0 top-loader washing machine won't agitate or spin. When it finishes filling the machine with water, it just sits, there, buzzing, until it blows a fuse. I get the fuse back on, turn it to ''spin'' at the end, which it will do (after I've poked something into the hole the lid latch goes in). Someone told me that maybe all it needs is a new belt; where can I get a diagram/repair manual for the poor old thing?
Either you solved this prob or not but the solution is the lid closure safety switch (the white thing in the oblong whole located at 2 o'clock on the rim of the top as you look into the washer from the top down into the tub.
The mechanism of the switch is poorly designed and breaks free causing the switch not to operate properly.
You need to lift lid (there are 4 bar spring catches front and back holding entire top of washer - thin metal to puch them in and gently lift each cormer then lift topfrom front like it is on hinges in back). I used a nylon wire tie to surround the wire ling close to the white thing and fastened it to the top of the machine with a pop rivit. Works like a charm.
email me if you need to fix it (but you probably have already or thrown it out)
