HI: I am having trouble with my printer (Kodak) which I purchased about 6 months ago. I bought, and replace new ink cartridges (both black & color), and when I printed the first time, it came out light, and after about 10 printings, the ink color is almost not there, and skipping... What is the problem? I also cleaned the area around the cartridges..

Depending how long you had it sitting without ink it is possible that print head might be ether dirty or plugged. In options of your printer there is an option to clean head and then calibrate. If this does not fix it it is possible that print head is broke. Also depends where you bought ink since i have purchased it before from off brand people like ebay and refiled cartridges and also had issues where it printed fine for few days and then it died.

Sorry for late post. You can get to options by going through management software. Where it shows you ink levels and also to do alignment and print test page.

Hi, have you taken the clear plastic cover off the bottom of the cartridge where the ink comes out of, also remove the cartridges check for this little clear piece of plastic that needs pealing off if this is not on their or you have all ready taken it off then re-insert the cartridges ensuring they are fitted correctly.

Then try printing again and let me know what happens ok

  • Anonymous Jan 15, 2010

try un-install the software then install again also try using the clean feature on the printer, also are you using genuine ink or copies as sometimes this will cause the problem your having.

If after doing the clean its still no better then the chances are that if the printer worked fine before and it wasnt left a long time without a ink cartridge in then i would say the ink you brought may be damaged could have been standing for a while and blocked the jets the ink comes out of, if you still have reciept take them back and exchange them for more at least this would rule out bad cartridge.

Run the clean function on the printer to clean the heads and nozzles this should then get it printing properly if their is nothing wrong with the actual ink cartridge.

Let me know what happens after doing the clean ok

are you saying you have tried the clean function and printer test page if this still dont print after doing this then i would take the ink back and get some new ink as these may have been stored somewhere hot and made the ink go to like a gel, if the printer was working fine before you replaced the ink the the chances are your printer is fine, try printing a picture and see if it makes any difference just in case their is a blockage doing a picture with black as the main part then this may clear any blockage, if after doing this it still dont work then i would get some more ink and try again.

    Let me know ok

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
  3. If the error continues, contact us.

I have an all-in-one Kodak ESP 3250 printer. Bought it 4 months ago. I'm interested in printing only in black, but now the color cartridge has emptied and it won't let me print with the black cartridge...

The KODAK All-in-One Printer uses an advanced built-in printhead. The system is designed to provide excellent image and text quality, while eliminating the need to purchase new printheads every time you replace ink cartridges, and saving you money. The printing system requires that both the black and color ink cartridges be installed to print. If either cartridge is not installed or is out of ink, the printer or printhead will not print correctly.

Install the color a new cartridge, avoid damage to the print head.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Hi there !

There should be ink resetter in your your printer. Just reset it and it will detect the ink cartridge.

If not, purchase chip resetter available in the market that enable your printer to reset the chip set and detect your ink cartridge.

Because on required ink cartridge is recommended. If you use other brand of ink cartridge, it will damage your printer and soon enough it will not detect anything at all.

Printer not printing black ink

Contact Kodak with your problem. The problem is in the print head. Kodak will send you a new print head free, then follow the instructions that are inclosed to change the print head. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE IT WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS. You may damage the new head and they will not replace it a second time for free.

Kodak 5100 no black printing, light on colors

Had the same issue... No black ink. Called the # from "Solution #1" guest, 18004216699. Had to patiently go through all the basic trouble shooting stuff like calibration, print head clean, demo print, etc. Once I went through that, they issued me a new print head for free, no shipping charges or anything. Just did this today, but they say I should have the print head in 3 days.

For once, service worked like it should!
