samsung combo dvd no power have checked fuse

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2008

Power lost after loading a cassette (which is now stuck there).
Have checked that power is available both sides of the fuse.
ON/OFF switch seems to be operating, but haven't checked it with meter.

Got almost the same; only it goes standby. After switching on the device, operation returns to normal. checked the diodes, ok.

    Hi
I have the same problem. I dont have a technical background. Is there anything that can be done without too much knowledge.

    Thanks
    Jo

Check D1SS16, a diode in secondary supply near the transformer. It's probably short circuit. Replace it with an SF-26, 400V, 2A rectifier diode, or equivalent.

I had a dead V5600 too - Diode SHG2D was dead it is in the back right hand corner looking from the front. Measure it first with a DVM - if it is like a few ohms & the same reading either direction it is dead. I replaced mine with a MUR460 (A MUR420 is fine too) I had to carefully drill the two holes in the board to 1.5mm after the old diode was removed. Should be tackled by a technician really you could avoid pulling the whole thing apart by cutting the two wires close to the diode body and carefully soldering the new diode to the stumps. Not for the non technical person to fix really,

Does samsung v5600 copy vcr to dvd internally

Does not appear from the owners manual that this unit can do that. Very few units have that ability.

FUNAI DRV-B2737 HAS NO POWER AT ALL, NOT EVEN 'ON' BUTTON LED. CAN IT JUST BE INTERNAL FUSE BLOWN?

It can be a fuse but unit has to be opened to see---if fuse is good replace the player as cost for repair would be too much if power supply is bad.

DEAD, NO TURN ON, CHECKED INTERNAL FUSE OK

If the internal fuse is okay, then what you got here is a bad power supply. Many power supply's do die with the internal fuse intact what happends is the High voltage tranformer or relay goes out on you causing this to happed, Best thing to do is replace the unit becuase a new power supply would cost you more then the unit new. Let me know if you have any question.

Can I record programmes from tv whwn I have samsung dvd v5600

Afraid not! ... You need a Recordable DVD player to record TV programs....
The Samsung v4600 is just a DVD player, with no recording capabilities.

DVD VCR combo has no power

I found out what the issue was with my Samsung DVD-V5500. It was the rectifier diode on the 15V tap of the high frequency transformer. This is the same issue that someone else with a later model V5600 had talked about. The diode had shorted and behaved like a piece of wire.

Seems to be a bit of weak point in the power supply. The issue can be diagnosed by using a multimeter to measure the resistance between the diode cathode and ground. If the meter is measuring 1 Ohm between the cathode and ground, your diode needs replacing. I just replaced it with a UF4003 diode from Jaycar, which is basically an Ultra Fast 200V 1A diode suitable for switching the high frequency (20-30kHz) output from the transformer.

The diode is located at the rear right hand corner of the board on the output of the power supply section. A picture below shows the new diode between orientated east-west between the large capacitors. The original diode that failed was an SHG2D SHS.

be sure that have a power in your outlet. if fuse is good try to check the diodes on the power supply, some diodes may be open.

Problem

If the AC power source (outlet) is ok and the line cord and fuse are ok but the unit is completely dead, you may have a problem with the internal switching power supply.

Locate the switching power supply and see if there is a fuse on its circuit board.

Completely dead units are typically caused by a failure in the power supply section.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Hi Barb22,

Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.

Sorry I can't be of much further help.

Regards,

Spare head 2

No Indication...Dead Unit?

Firstly, try plugging the unit into another mains socket just to make sure it's not the socket that's faulty, or try another appliance in the socket you are using. Next, make sure the fuse in the plug hasn't blown. If you don't have a fuse tester, you can try the fuse in another similar appliance to see if it works. If it has blown and your spare lead is the same, there will be an internal problem. Inside the unit is an in-line 2 amp fuse. If this has blown you almost certainly have a power board problem. Always switch the mains off before plugging in or removing the mains lead from the rear of the unit. Back EMF can damage the appliance if you don't do this.
