The printer stops when the page is roughly 1/3 printed and visible and then it reads paper jam in the display. If I turn it off and turn it on - it feeds the page through and then a clear page behind it. I have tried to vacuum it out for the dust or small bits of paper that might be stuck and cannot get close enough to the rollers to look for other impediments. It's been working fine for me previously, in fact I was quite fond of it as multipurpose printers go.

I had this problem the other day. I turned out that I had a small bit of polystyrene foam had got trapped just before the white plastic rollers you can see in front of the toner sponge where the cartridge head runs when you lift the lid to change ink.

I discovered it by noting that on power-up these rollers turn as if to feed paper back into the paper feeder (i.e. "backwards through the printer"), so I tried to see if I could get a sheet to feed backwards and noticed something was trying to stop the right-hand side of the paper feeding in. Soon after I noticed the bit of foam through the right-hand side slot in the white plastic section above the roller. A quick removal with small tweezers et viola!

Oops - I forgot to add - the reason I think it got there is that it looks like any small objects that might fall into the paper feeder tray can possibly get drawn in while printing and then get stuck if they are too bit to pass through the rollers; so keep the tray clear of crumbs, lint/fluff balls or bits of foam from the packaging!

I have the same problem with my MP180. After trying the only option I could find: feed paper through when printer starts up.
I finally got frustrated and started prying around with the rollers. I rolled the top white one around and pushed on it a bit and then closed the lid, hit "ok" and it reset itself again. Hopefully this does the trick.

Many pixmas open at lower front bottom above paper output area, and have a little catch you press or depress. Once inside you are sure to fing a tiny paper jam. cheers lilacgerry xxx

I have a s405 interpret stating I have a paper jam. I have went through and cleaned everything and there is no paper jam anywhere that i can see. What do I do next?

There could be something blocking the paper path. Try to get a flashlight and check if there are any foreign objects inside the printer. If you can turn the printer upside down with the scanner cover open, try to do that and shake the printer. If there are foreign objects inside, it should fall off.

If it doesn't help and your printer is still under warranty, contact our technical support team to have your printer replaced. You can find our contact number at www.lexmark.com.

I have a 5650 lexmark printer and it keeps saying paper jams but there is not paper anywhere.. how can i find a solution... when you load paper it keepps getting stuck.. help

There could be something blocking the paper path. Try to shake the printer upside down. You'll be amazed of the things that falls off inside the printer. Also, make sure that there's no paper left inside the printer. Tiny pieces of paper will still lead to paper jams.

Says paper jam but can't find any paper anywhere

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

Printer indicates paper jam every few pages, but there is no paper anywhere in the paper path. If I open the top cover and close it, it will print a few more pages, then indicate another paper jam

It shows service error 5100 & doesn;t print

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

Brother 5250

I had the same problem on 4 Brother HL-5250's, I checked the whole printer, and couldn't find a paper jam, yet the red printer light wouldn't shut off. I finally followed the instructions on Brother's website for removing a paper jam, and the solution for all 4 printers was paper stuck in the fuser cover. See below on how to open the fuser cover.

Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).

  2. Hint
  3. There are 2 kinds of covers at the rear of the printer. Please make sure to open both the back cover (step 7) and the fuser cover (step8).
