My samstron monitor goes dead after 5 min

I m using a samstron 15" monitor. well it so happens that after running for 4-5 min the monitor goes blank and it remains in this state for next 2-3 hours and after it is turned off for 2-3 hours it works for 5-6 mins again and the same problem occurs. its green led keeps blinking as if it is out of sync but it happens without any tweaking in any display options. the current refresh rate is 60hz at 1024x768 resolution. please provide an early remedy.

Hi,

The problem is not yet serious, no parts yet to replace. That is a result of a "cold solder" of the parts inside. Open the case, clean it with a soft brush and look for these cold solders on the circuit board... resolder what you find and check every pin...

see picture, the rings are somewhat the start of disconnected pin from being soldered.

After that test the monitor..... That's it... Fixya me okay...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). I have 2 monitors connected to 1 computer using a

satservice, What happens AFTER 15 min of FLASHING?? What did unit do or act like 3-4 weeks ago? Is the screen both BLACK and BLANK? or is screen just black and you can SEE win-desktop if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen at differnt angles? Can you use your Samsung warranty? Will monitor do same when connected to different KNOWN GOOD prebooted to desktop PC? Are you refering to the "power ON" indicator light on front BEZEL as the FLASHING thing? Need more info, but I suspect "shutdown of units "switch-mode-power-supply" due to detection of FAULT CONDITION having been detected with other circuit or with itself. Read some of my other responses in my fixya profile that deal with BLACK SCREEN repair. If this response useful, rate on fixya. 12fixlouie

Lg w1934-bn blank screen after start up, power light on . same problem occurs on different computers used.

Reason 1: Wetness The number one reason why computer monitors go blank is - wetness. Believe it or not, when your computer monitor is exposed to humid air, sometimes water can condense and accumulate in the monitor. This causes the monitor to malfunction and go blank. I've had this happen to my desktop PC at least three times before. What you need to do is to leave the monitor alone for some time and allow the water to evaporate. That usually solves the problem.

Reason 2: Faulty Graphics Card The next reason why your computer monitor goes black is due to a faulty graphics card. The best way to detect this kind of problem is to connect up a new monitor to your PC, then check if you have a blank screen. If you continue to have a blank screen, then it's likely your video card is faulty.

Reason 3: Faulty RAM This one is less obvious and less common, but it can happen. You might sometimes get bad RAM modules which prevent your PC from booting up even to the basic BIOS startup screen. To detect this kind of problem is more troublesome, you might need to remove those RAM modules and insert them into another computer.

Reason 4: Loose Connections Another reason why your monitor goes blank is due to loose connections. The connection from the monitor to the mains is usually a culprit, as is the connection between the monitor and the video card. Check those connections before you declare your computer monitor as faulty.

Reason 5: A Short Circuit In The Motherboard And the final reason why your computer monitor goes blank? It's possibly because of a short circuit in the motherboard. This is the most undesirable outcome of course, as you might have to replace your entire motherboard. However, it's possible that this can happen - so keep your fingers crossed and hope it doesn't happen to you.
i think this will help.

CRT Monitor goes blank

Have you checked your energy saving settings? Try to set the monitor to "always on" and verfy if the problem still persists.
Also check if your monitor drivers have their own energysaving options, although i doubt it.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

The green power light indicates that the monitor is receiving from the computer correctly. I suspect it is going into high voltage shutdown. There is a safety circuit that monitors the high voltage and shuts the monitor down if it sees anything amiss. So the monitor comes on and then shuts off. High voltage problems are generally not worth trying to repair. Another example of a worthless safety feature. High voltage failures are not dangerous, and adding the safety circuit just kills the unit when it may have some life left or worse, sometimes it is the shutdown circuit itself which fails!
Hope this helps.

Screens works for 5 mins then goes blank!!!!!

It could also be that the video card is not compatible with this monitor. After the pc boots up, can you get into windows? Does the monitor always go out at a specific time on boot? Say for example; you boot the pc, windows startup splash screen comes on; screen does a quick flash and goes blank. Then it maybe the BIOS setting for the video. Try changing the IRQ setting. You could also try putting the video card in another slot. Do you have the manual for the motherboard? Ray
