Contacted the software seller, they had the same problems from all other users. Got a full refund. I had tried this on two machines. That means Adobes software had the problem.

In Addition on my recent post, here's the other sulotion specifying the problem.

Disk-reading problems can show up almost any time you try to open a file, start a program from disc, switch discs while using programs that require multiple discs, or when a program tries to read data from some particular area on the disc. There is a wide variety of error messages indicating problems reading the disc or copying specific files. Here are some of them, but remember that the one you get may or may not be similar to one of these.

    Best of luck.

"application name is not a valid win32 application."

"A device attached to the system is not functioning."

"A required file kernl32.dll was not found."

"Not enough memory to run this application."

"Cannot find the file(s) needed to start this application."

"Error Reading From File [Installer Error 1305]"

    "Unable to find Setup.exe"

    "CDR-101."

"Unable to read drive drive letter:"

Insufficient Memory Problems reading from a disc may also produce the following symptoms:

The disc label does not appear in Windows Explorer.

The contents of the disc will not display in Windows Explorer.

When you insert the disk in the drive or read a disc, the computer stops responding.

The disc does not eject from the drive.

Reading from the disc takes an exceptionally long time.

    Using The Recovery Console

The Recovery Console is a software tool for restoring various parts of Windows XP. It is part of the standard distribution CD; however, if your computer came preloaded with Windows you may not have the CD. In that case you will need to contact Microsoft to get a copy of the Recovery Console files.

Use Recovery Console to replace the missing or damaged driver file. To do so, follow these steps:

Insert the WinXP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.

When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start Recovery Console.

If your computer is configured for dual booting or multiple booting, select the WinXP installation you want to recover.

When prompted, type the administrator password, and then press ENTER.

NOTE: In WinXP Home Edition, the administrator password is blank by default. You will be presented with a command prompt (essentially a blank screen). Follow the instructions for the particular restoration you need to perform. You'll find the instructions contained in the solution portion of the error message.

At the command prompt, type the required command and then press ENTER.

    Enjoy

Pls. rate & hope to hear more from you again.

    tnx

I need to see the manual for Adobe Photoshop Elements. I have the system installed but I need instructions and I don't see why I should pay for it.

Whch version of Photoshop Elements do you have? Adobe doesn't seem to have a manual for version 10 of the program on their support site. If you have an install disc, look for pdf, html and video tutorials.

Otherwise try these links:

Getting Started (videos and some html files) http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshopelements/gettingstarted/index.html ,
Using Photoshop Elements: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshopelements/using/index.html . This page has a series of web pages on what the Elements workspaces look like and how to do specific tasks, and
Photoshop Elements Organizer: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ElementsOrganizer/10.0/Using/index.html .

I wish that I could be of more help.

I have windows 7. When i try to play Nancy Drew: Danger by design a box pops up requesting i insert disc 1. There is only one disc! It seems to work ok on windows xp. Ca you suggest anything to make it...

From the Nancy Drew web site:

Windows Vista/7 Support Installing older games (#1-13) with Windows Vista/7.
While our older games are not completely Windows Vista/7 compliant (notably games #1-13), there is a workaround which has been successful for most players. Please take the following steps to manually install.
If you had previously installed, uninstall the game and then delete all remaining game file folders from your computer, including emptying them out of your Recycle Bin. These files may be in one of the following locations:
C:\Nancy Drew\
C:\Program Files\Nancy Drew\
In your Documents folder: C:\Users\Username\Documents\
Once this is done, make sure you're logged on as an Administrator for your computer and manually install by taking the following steps:
1. Go to your "Documents" folder and create a new folder. Rename the folder with the title of the game.
2. Insert game Disk 1 in your disk drive and open "Computer" from the "Start" menu.
3. Double-click on your CD-Rom/DVD drive, look for a Setup or Setup Launcher Installshield file. Double-click this file to start the installation process.
4. When install asks what directory you want your game to install to, click "Browse".
5. Navigate to the game folder you created by selecting "C:" drive, then "Users" (or User name), then "Documents", then select the game folder.
6. Continue forward with the installation process, when asked if you want to install DirectX, check "No, I will install myself".
7. Upon completion, uncheck the "Play Now" box, click finish and exit setup.
For game titles #1-5, follow these three additional steps:
1. Right-click the game icon that is now on your desktop, select "Properties".
2. Under "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab.
3. Check the "Run in Compatibility Mode" box and then select "Windows 98/Me" from the drop-down menu.
You should now be able to open and play the game. If you installed an older version of DirectX with the game, please go to Microsoft's Download Center to download and install the latest version of DirectX for your version of Windows.

Install photoshop elements 6 for windows 7, it does not open at all after installation.

You have to wait for the information about the compatibility of the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. You can upgrade to Adobe Photoshop 8 which is completely compatible with Windows 7. You can check the compatibility here. Check event viewer for the error message, for this click on start menu type Event Viewer and press Enter. It would be better to check with Adobe for what operating systems that Photoshop Element 6 would be supported. However you can try installing Adobe Photoshop Element 6 in a fresh installed Windows 7.
I hope this helps.

When attempting to start Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, I get this message " Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information." Using a PC running XP home service pack...

OK, loads of different fixes for this, have fun.

These errors are caused when a version of Photoshop CS is already on the computer, such as a beta copy, or if your registration information file does not get written properly or is damaged. If multiple copies of Photoshop are in the Applications folder, or if a beta or tryout version is installed in addition to the regular version, the system and Photoshop may confuse which files to use to verify personalization. This confusion can lead to personalization errors when launching the application.

The Photoshop CS installer personalizes the Photoshop CS application within the Applications folder in alphabetical order. If multiple instances of the Photoshop CS folder are present, only the first one alphabetically will be personalized. New installations of Photoshop CS (which folder falls alphabetically after the first installation) will not be personalized.

A damaged or incorrectly written personalization file (userreg or ps.sif) can also cause Photoshop to return a personalization error when you start it.

Do one or more of the following solutions:

Solution 1: Remove and then reinstall Photoshop.

If Photoshop's serial number is not displayed on the bottom of Photoshop CS's splash screen upon opening Photoshop, you may have another version of Photoshop CS on the computer. Empty the trash, remove the copy of Photoshop and reinstall it. It is especially important to remove any beta copies of Photoshop you may have.

To remove and then reinstall Photoshop:

1. Move any personal files from the Adobe Photoshop CS folder(s) on the hard disk to another location.

2. Delete all Adobe Photoshop CS folder(s) in the Applications folder.

3. Drag the Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

4. Insert the Photoshop CD-ROM, double-click the installer file in the Photoshop folder on the CD-ROM, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Solution 2: Remove and then reinstall Photoshop in another location.

If you uninstall and reinstall and still get personalization errors, or if you cannot locate an installed copy, uninstall any copies you find, empty the trash, and then remove Photoshop, and then reinstall Photoshop in another location that is alphabetically in front of any other installation.

To remove Photoshop and install it in a new location:

1. Move any personal files from the Adobe Photoshop CS folders on the hard disk to another location.

2. Delete all Adobe Photoshop CS folders in the Applications folder.

3. Drag the Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

4. Create a subfolder in the Applications folder, that is named differently from the default Photoshop install folder (Adobe Photoshop CS), and is is alphabetically in front of the other version of Photoshop, such as \Applications\aaaa\Adobe Photoshop CS.

5. Reinstall Photoshop CS and select the new subfolder (created in Step 4) as the install folder when prompted for the installation location.

Solution 3: Use the ImageReady personalization file.

If Photoshop's serial number is displayed on the splash screen, or you performed the solutions referred to above, the cause of the errors is a personalization file that is not written correctly or is damaged. If you can successfully open ImageReady, you can use ImageReady's personalization file for Photoshop.

To Use the ImageReady personalization file:

1. Ctrl+click the Adobe Photoshop CS application file in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS and choose Show Package Contents.

2. Open the Contents folder, and then open the Resources folder.

3. Locate the USERREG file in the Resources folder, and drag it to the desktop. Keep the Resources folder open.

4. Ctrl+click the Adobe ImageReady CS application file in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS and choose Show Package Contents.

5. Open the Contents folder, and then open the Resources folder.

6. Locate the USERREG file in the ImageReady Resources folder, and copy it to the Photoshop Package's Contents/Resource folder.

7. Close all open folders, and restart Photoshop. Restart ImageReady to make sure that the USERREG file was copied, not moved, to the Photoshop Package's Contents/Resource folder.

Solution 4: Replace the Photoshop .sif file.

If Photoshop does not open without error, also replace the .sif file:

1. Ctrl+click the Adobe Photoshop CS application file in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS and choose Show Package Contents.

2. Open the Contents folder, and then open the Resources folder and the ASN folder in the Resources folder.

3. Locate the PS.SIF file in the ASN folder, and drag it to the desktop. Keep the ASN folder open.

4. Ctrl+click the Adobe ImageReady CS application file in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS and choose Show Package Contents.

5. Open the Contents folder, and then open the Resources folder and the ASN folder in the Resources folder.

6. Locate the PS.SIF file in the ASN folder, and copy it to the Photoshop Package's Contents/Resource folder.

7. Close all open folders, and restart Photoshop. Also restart ImageReady to make sure the PS.SIF file was copied, not moved to the Photoshop Package's Contents/Resource folder.

8. In setup editor, under components, expand the Typelibrary.tlb component. Expand advertising and remove all entries under it. (should be only one.)
Compile and install.

I know its a lot, but Adobe is a complicated program:) Source(s): http://kb.adobe.com

Hi there.

Do one of the following solutions: Solution 1: Remove the NOKIAManager.mox file.

  1. Exit Photoshop Elements.
  2. Open the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\moxplugins folder.
  3. Move the NOKIAManager.mox file to the Recycle Bin, or another location such as your desktop.
  4. Restart your computer.
Note: The NOKIAManager.mox plug-in file is required for Adobe Photo Downloader to download photos from a Nokia mobile phone. If you use a Nokia mobile phone, use Solution 2. If you later decide to use a Nokia mobile phone, either move the NOKIAManager.mox file back to the original location or reinstall Photoshop Elements.
Solution 2: Install or reinstall the Nokia PC Suite software.

Note: Only use this solution if you connect a Nokia mobile phone to your computer.

In order to communicate with a Nokia mobile phone, your computer must have the Nokia PC Suite software installed. Install the software to allow Adobe Photo Downloader to communicate with the phone and download photos from it. If you have previously installed Nokia PC Suite but are still getting this error message, uninstall and reinstall the software or upgrade to a newer version. For more information about Nokia PC Suite, contact Nokia or visit the Nokia web site.

Solution 3: Disable Adobe Photo Downloader.

  1. Open the Organizer in Photoshop Elements.
  2. Choose Edit > Preferences > Camera or Card Reader.
  3. Disable the Auto Launch Adobe Photo Downloader On Device Connect option.
  4. Click OK.
Note: This solution will prevent Adobe Photo Downloader from starting when Windows starts, and it will not appear automatically when you plug in a camera, card reader, flash memory drive, or other memory device. When you plug in one of these devices, and in order to download photos into the Organizer, you will need to start Photoshop Elements and choose File > Get Photos or Videos > From Camera or Card Reader.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Cannot install photoshop elements 6 in vista home edition

There is a problem with the auto-extractor.

Manually extract the files from the downloaded file using Winzip and extract to a new folder. Then run Setup.exe from that folder.

Also, make sure that your Temp folders have been cleared out.

The latest version of WinZip may be downloaded from http://www.winzip.com
