See if the latest drivers are installed for the device, by going to Acer's website.
If it is an old laptop and the same was working on the earlier installed operating systems, and now it is not working with new os .. check for the drivers.
And if all of a sudden this happened check for a cable connector which might be right below the keyboard of the laptop. be carefull when you open the keyboard, and just follow the cable from the speakers and you will be able to locate the connector , check whether the connector is loosened of disconnected.
