Hp psc 1215 wont scan

Hi i am running windows vista home basic and i have a hp psc 1215 and it prints ok and copies ok but it wont scan ive tried using paint and windows photo gallery but they dont work
any ideas

same prob..the message "failed to create file" appears after it has supposed to have transfered data....lets me see preview though

Driver is already installed on vista. Recommendation say try photo gallery and paint and neither work.

My printer HP psc 1215 also don't want to print. I have Vista on my laptop. I have already uninstall, unplug and again, plug in and install the the printer. I tried to get new drivers for the printer but the programme just insist that Vista has the drivers pre-installed. My pc automatically find new updates and I install them to keep up with the latest, but with no success.

Same problem. HO 1215. Copies and prints suddenly stopped scanning.

It sounds like you need a TWAIN driver. I would suggest that you do a google search for one. My daughter had the same problem but with a different all in one machine and finding the TWAIN driver solved her problem. Hope this helps.

If you lost you installation CD of your hp psc 1215, you need to visit the hp website search the model of you product and download the driver.

I assume you have Vista and when the scan button is pressed on the product, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Workaround
Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button. Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan

Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Windows Fax and Scan.
NOTE: The Windows Fax and Scanoption is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editionsof Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition ofWindows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint.
Click New scan.
Click File, and then click Scan.

Option two: Scan using Paint

Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Accessories.
Click Paint.
Click File, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
Click Scan.

Cause The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.

Hp 1410v won't scan

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doen't work with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP 1410v) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Introduction Some products do not have full scan functionality in Windows Vista. This is because full-featured Vista drivers are not available for all products, especially older products. However, the Windows Vista operating system installed on your computer includes a basic print driver. This driver allows you to scan an original and save it as an image using workaround methods. You cannot use the advanced scanning features that you might have used with your product before you installed Microsoft Windows Vista. Scanning an original and saving it as an image Follow these steps to scan an original document, and then save it as an image. Step one: Load the original Follow these instructions to load the original in the product.

Raise the top cover of the product.
Place your original print-side down on the glass.
NOTE: The engraved diagram next to the scanner glass shows exactly where to place the document (usually on the right-front corner or the left-front corner).
Close the scanner lid.

Step two: Workarounds for scanning an original and saving it to the computer Select one of the following three workaround methods to scan an original and save it as an image. Method one: Scan with Windows Photo Gallery

Click the Windows ( ) icon.
Click Programs .
Click Windows Photo Gallery . The program opens in a new window.
Click File , and then click Import from Camera or Scanner .
Click Import .
Click Scan .

Method two: Scan with Windows Fax and Scanning

Introduction A full feature software and driver package for Windows Vista is not available for your product. But you can still print, scan, and import and view images on a memory card, using the workaround procedures in this document. Use the following instructions to install the basic driver in Windows Vista, and then review the workaround procedures to use the available features for your product. Installing the printer driver When you connect the product to the computer, Windows Vista detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when installation begins and when it is complete. You do not have to download any software or insert the product CD.

Turn the product on.
Connect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable to the printer and to the computer.
A Your devices are ready to use window might display on the screen. If the window displays and does not close automatically, close the window.

what happens whenever you are trying to scan.... any error message or any error number?

try scanning from the printer to the computer using the scan to option on the front panel of the printer.

try scanning from hp solution center installed in your computer.

try scanning from mspaint. to do so, open paint and click on "file-->from scanners and camera".

how did you installed the driver. have you got the correct cd to install the printer in windows vista???

if not that may be the problem. the printer can print and copy well as you are having the drivers which will work in win vista. but for the scanning functionality you need to get the cd to install the printer in windows vista. you can download it online.
