The wii works fine except on the old nintendo nes games that you download. When I try to play Super Mario Brothers 3 the screen scrolls up and down during the main menu and the game.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Horizontal black bar on screen and no sound

It's probably overheating (fan is broken)

You can get a third party to replace it if you want, but I would actually recommend sending it to Nintendo.

Unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo has awesome repair services. They will do any repair under (1 year) warranty for free and if it's not under warranty then they will still do it for cheap. It cost me something like $96 (in Canada) after shipping.

They are also very quick, usually in a week you'll have your system back.

The best part is, whether your system is under warranty or you pay for the repair, you get a renewed 1 YEAR warranty with Nintendo, this is far better than Sony and MS who only do 90 days!

BAD PICTURE, DISTORED, MOSTLY ON THE EDGES, BUT THE BLACK LINE ON TOP IN HIGH DEF CHANNELS IS NOT STRIGHT ACROSS, IT BOUGHS DOWN LIKE A "U" SHAPE

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

No picture just a blue line across and its not the cable

You may take a strong flashlight and place it against the dark areas of the screen and look around the edge of the light. If you can see an image moving around, it is still being 'displayed' on the entire screen.
If its still there, it looks like an Inverter/CCFT problem. If the image is 'gone' or compressed into a single 'line' it may be the LCD controller (TCON) with a 'heat' or intermittent problem.
You may try a fan blowing on the vents on the TV to see it runs longer without going bad.

Question About Picture Burn

Picture burn is caused not only by xbox's, wii's and such, but by regular tv as well (those little insignias in the bottom right hand corner).

Main thing is to turn any brightness controls down to lower levels, and do not leave still images on the screen all the time. As long as the images are moving, then the screens don't "burn".

Having problems casting

To cast the line, you hold down the A button, make a casting motion with your arm, and let go of the A button near the top of your casting arc. Reeling in the line is as simple as moving the Nunchuk in a circular motion or pressing the A button. You can move the line either left, right, or back by moving the Wii Remote in the same direction and increase or decrease the drag on the line by pressing up or down on the D pad on the remote.

check out this little girl playing the game....you can see the motions she makes to cast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozG-s2N2xmo

For more info on controls, gameplay and cheat codes, visit this webpage:

On the left of the screen, you'll see box art image, further under that you's see the 'get it at best buy' and further under you will see where you can click for images, videos, and hints & cheats. Have fun! :)
