HP Pavilion dv6000 Webcam problem

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000, and the webcam does not work, i installed the updates, and the HP Laptop doesn't have the Quickplay program that others have that I read about, and I am not sure what to do.

    • Installed supposed up dates from HP tech. Loaded and configured correctly. The web cam worked maybe two times with Quickplay. After install, there was a vista alert stating there was already an updated version for Vista installed. Still does not work for video conferencing on Windows live. Windows live states the webcam is already in use by another program. tried Googling with no results.

Fix for HP Pavilion DV6000 with built in camera. I have been searching and searching for a fix and I finally found one. Works with XP and VISTA OS.

Download HP's Pavilion Webcam Driver: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34501-35000/sp34746.exe and restart your computer again.

Hi,

I have this issue with windows vista installed on my laptop. The integrated camera just doesnt seem to work now and then.

For eg., it works at times with quickplay and some times with yahoo messenger, and more often than not it doesnt work atall.

One temporary solution I stumbled upon last nite was going to 'manage' window by right+clicking my-computer, select the webcam properties, disable the webcam and enable it again.

It did the trick for me.. :-)

I have a problem with my HP Pavillion dv6000 webcam 1.3 MP. When I open QuickPlay it doesn't even give me the option to use my HP webcam like it used to. Also when I try to use my webcam for AIM or anything else it still does not work.

hmmm...is your pavilion on XP, as I anticipate? if so, then unplug the webcam, and then plug back in. Does the XP see the webcam being a new device? If not, then you'll need to go to the Control Panel for Cameras and Faxes, and install it from there.

Anyone owning a HP Pavilion laptop with the built-in web cam should follow the fix instructions outlined by HP. Slowly, HP is solving (kind of) these barriers but for now this first step is the most important stepfor fixing your laptop webcam and will save you abunch of time in the long run.

It involves diagnosing and applying thecorrect updates which are specifically made for your HP Pavilion laptopmodel.

Failure to follow the correct web cam fix instructions can makeyour web cam problems even harder to fix and worse, take up a bunch ofyour time. So if your intention is to fix the webcam problems and usethe camera as it was intended you should follow the correct web cam fixinstructions for your Pavilion model.

When ALL ELSE FAILS you could try this odd fix for the HP web cam that was uncovered by a guy named DylanBennett. The fix requires about 14 easy, individual steps and the amount of positive feedback has been substantially large...about 90 % success rate.

Use this fix only when you've tried all other steps for updating yourHP webcam and still can't get the camera working the way it's supposedto work. Towards the bottom of the page you'll find examples from many different HP Pavilion laptop owners that the fix worked for.

I have this LAPTOP running Vista. I almost always have to restart the computer and then it works. Very annoying.

try rebooting your whole system if you can. Reboot using the one that doesn't save any files. Save everything you need onto an external hard drive if you wanna do that. If this doesn't work then you're probably going to have to call the customer service and ask for a new laptop. It shouldn't cost you anything since it's their fault for not installing the program into that laptop. Probably a mistake if this is the problem

If you have quickplay on your keyboard cover than it better to install quickplay. You will get quickplay software form www.hp.com and go driver section. It will ask you to enter your model number and follow instruction. If you have installed already than uninstall and get fresh copy of quickpay software.

The problem has befuddled me for months with a friends computer. She downgraded to XP and the webcam wouldn't work. At one point it was sent to HP service for a warranty hardware problem and when it came back the webcam WAS working. But I don't know what HP did. I do know the webcam driver was for a "Ricoh" device.

HP seems very confused on this issue. Knowledgabe HP post have offered solutions that have not work for me. But HP also has on their support site the following page:

which categorically states that "If you have an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario consumer notebook PC that shipped with Windows Vista, you should not attempt to downgrade to Windows XP. Changing the operating system (OS) will cause severe operational problems." etc., etc. But on the same page their offer advice on what to do and driver downloads for all devices???

since few weeks my device windos was Vista home premium then i deleted it's recovery and i set up Vista ultimate.now i can not set up the camera.my device is Hp pavilion dv6000.excuse me can you help me by sending the recovery of windos Vista home premium my mail is travelayman@yahoo.com
