Samsung 65 in Mod HCN653w Picture Distortion

I have owned the tv for about 3 yrs I purchased at Best Buy new. The tv stays on most of the time and has developed a problem. I can be watching the tv and then it looks like there are horizontal lines from top to bottom and you are unable to see the image. It doesnt go off but you cant see because of the destortion. I have replaced the Convergence Amp and the problem did not improve at all. When someone does remember to turn it off, when You turn it back on it seems worse. The problem seems to be the worst when a light colored scene comes on. Or when my kids are watching cartoons. The problem has progressed and I cant watch the tv anymore. Any Help is greatly appreciatted!

I did have a DVD player hooked to the s-video in the back slot and it was doing same. I hooked it to the s-vid on the side of tv and the problem did get a little better for a week or so. I have connected to the tv with audio\ video cables also. I have Direct Tv, DVD, and sometimes a Playstation hooked to the tv. Also the tv cant complete a perfect focus. It stops before it gets done

Can U tell me where I can purchase the boards, and if U have a specific board I should start with. Also if U can give me a ballpark $ on the board cost I would appreciate it! Also if U think it would be worth the cost because I'm not seeing good things of this Samsung Model based on this website and a few others I've looked @ Your advise has been helpfull thus far.

These boards are expensive ($300-$500) ea. Too much involved with service alignments after the new boards are replaced. On a professional level you wouldn't know what to do and it's not something you can be walked through over the phone or by e-mail.

Do you have this problem on all inputs to the TV (Tuner,Video, Component, S-Video, etc...)? or just one? And does it affect the TV menu when it's brought up on the screen or no?

Does it also affect the menu to the TV or not?

Because it only affects the picture and not the menu to the TV then I will rule out the problem coming from the high voltage circuit. It seems to me that the problem is coming from the main signal board. These big projection TVs are mainly board replacement only when it comes to repairing them. Repairing it down to component level can be very time consuming and costly.

Could be the deflection or video circuits. Depending on what it does. Getting darker? noise or snow in the picture?
video distortion? Can you describe in more detail what the symptoms are?

If the picture is reduced in size all the way around, then you are looking at a power supply issue. That would also explain it shutting down.

Mainboard

What exactly is the problem with the set? Why not just fix the board that is in there? Usually, only a lightning strike that completely burns up the board or a coolant leak from one of the picture tubes that covers the board and corrodes through the parts and traces are the only reasons to replace a board. Explain exactly what you see or exactly what is wrong and we will help you from there.
