We have a Sam Sung HDTV. Suddenly after one year of use, we can no longer play our VCR/DVD recorder/player. The screen shows weak or no signal. We have tried two other players with their cables back and...

It could be the internernal cables or solder joint connections to the video input or tuner board. you can test each capacitor with an ohmmeter to see which one is bad. They should be 25-30 ohms.

Samsung dvd vr-357; recorded DVD only plays on the player

You have to "Finalize" the disc before it will play on other units. Go to Disc Menu, Second choice listed(not in front of it right now) Selections to right will offer disc Finalize. Say YES.

I am trying to record to a blank dvd-r. I load a blank dvd-r into samsung-vr357 and it ejects it saying "Cannot read disc". I never get a chance to Format it or anything.

I bought a lens cleaner and ran it and it still would not accept blank dvd-r. I loaded some old recordings I made to see if they would play and they did. I noticed these were recorded on "Staples" brand dvd-r bought at Staples office supply store. I went out and bought some more of these and they work!! For whatever reason, the unit accepts these and I have made 5 copies and they all copy and play fine. Now i need to go get some more! The Maxell just won't work in my player. Too bad I bought 100!

HP dvd play on my laptop malfunctioning

grinding sounds is from the dvd drive itself. Sounds like its not sitting properly in the drive or the holder that it sits in is going bad. Either way replace the drive and that will take care of the grinding sounds. Also the more grinding sounds that happen, the more of a chance you take on your dvds getting scratches on them and going bad eventually.

How to record ?

I don't know a whole lot about electronic equipment, but I've never seen anything connected in so many ways at the same time. Maybe the antenna and one other type of connection. The different signals from all the connections are probably confusing each other. I would try one connection at a time to see if the problem improves. Good Luck.

Only recording 59 minutes in LP mode

My WS-recorder did something simular to me. I hadnt used it for a while then it would only hold about 20 min. of recording no matter what record mode I selected.....so..... I held down the menu/folder button to get to the menu "mode". Press the FF to scroll through until you get to "FORMAT". Press Play and the screen will show "NO"...press FF to chose "Yes" it will ask you "are you sure" press FF to say "YES" then play to make it reformat. It hangs out for a couple of seconds then after that I have my regular 4 hours of record time back. ***** I would make sure I had downloaded all my info off the WS-100 BEFORE I did a re-Format.**** I dont know why it worked, but it did. I like this little recorder and Im glad to have it functioning properly again. The tinny/echoey sound could just be the environment you are in. Even how close or far it is from the subject...how many people are in the room....if a fan is on in the room....This little thing isnt super high quality in its play back mode....hook it up to you computer speakers and you will like the sound much better. Good Luck.
