There should be a list of On Screen Messages and what each displayed code means in the instruction manual or more options in detail on the manufacturers website. Also check if the machine section will support double sided discs. Have you used them before?
try cleaning the OPTICAL LENS directly with a Qtip , gently rub , try again , the code U61 means a self test procedure that the unit is running according to PANASONIC tech people, good luck , AJ
U-61 is a hardware error code. Usually means main board failure, however have found that a bad changer can also trigger that code since it connects directly to the main board.
From User guide: U61 • There was a power failure or the AC plug was disconnected while the unit was on. The unit is carrying out its recovery process. This process restores the unit to normal operation. The unit is not broken. Wait until the message disappears.
If fail unplug and hold power button for a minute or two and turn it on and repeat.
Hi, there was no solution to my problem with the error code U61, having talked to a Panasonic repair center it would cost £180.00 to fix this unit as the board and DVD recorder have to be replaced as one unit. It would cost me around £160.00 to buy a new one so there was no point in having it repaired.
