How can I clean the mirrors on this tv?

The picture is not what it was. I was told the mirrors need cleaning. What is the correct way to do this and can I do it myself?

really appreciate the information. Find it hard to believe that a dry cloth will clean mirrors. Is this a special cloth?

Probably need a manual showing the inner mirrors, do you know where I can purchase this. Thanks again, Clete

To clean the mirrors you must remove the screen first there are several screws in the back to remove the screen. then there is a mirror shaped like a polligon clean this with a dry cloth do not use a paper towel. soft colth must be used on any optical surface. then clean the optical engine lens in the same manner. them the large mirror in the back. remeber if you leave a defect on any of these surfaces it will be amplified by the screen. this system relies on a lamp to provide bright picture so replace that as well. this should be a part of your anual cleaning agreement of the after market warranty you purchased assuming you bought one. dim picture = lamp, fuzzy, dim, dull picture = dust

all you are doing with the cloth is to remove dust. a damp cloth will leave streaks the will show up in the screen. the cloth can be a lint free soft cotton cloth (this is what my company uses) or a soft shammi. if you are thinking of the DLP mirrors, that is an IC chip 1" x 1.25" sealed system made by TI. these mirrors (micro) can never be cleaned nor could they ever get dirty and is part of the light engine.

SOURCE: Can I clean projection tubes myself?

First unplug set and remove back cover then you should see the three picture tubes . Using a soft cloth spray windex on the cloth then clean your lens and use the dry side to wipe away . Do not press hard as the lens are plastic . If you cannot see the tubes thru the back side you must enter thru the front . Would need to know make and model # of your set located on the if you need more assistance . If you are a smoker this could very well improve your picture . Good luck

What can I use to clean the mirror on my 65" MItsubishi model #65737??

If its a WD 65737 do not attempt it---special mirror and any marks will show in picture---Contact Mitsubishi as they do make a special liquid cleaner for this but real care has to be taken, not to mention just getting at the mirror correctly-----why does it need cleaning?

My Sony KP53S35 rear projection TV has a very dim picture and I was told that I need to clean the mirrors. Can you tell me how to take apart the TV to get to the mirrors and how to clean them?

chance are your problem is the projector lamp and not the mirrors. if the tv is 4 years old or more buy a new lamp, they are easy to change. as far as the mirrors go, you have take the back off to get at the mirror but its a lot of work try the lamp first.

Dull picture on my KP61s65

You can safely clean the mirror and lenses, it can greatly increase your picture if its dirty. If you unplug your tv you can safely remove the back and gain access to the lenses. All it takes is a philips screwdriver. After you remove the back, you can remove the light barrier between the upper and lower half to free up some room. Take a dry scratch-free cloth and wipe the dust from the lenses. If they're grimy, use a little lens cleaner (liquids used sparingly here, electronics don't like liquids, be careful) You can look up into the top and see if the mirror is dirty. A flashlight shined on it will illuminate the dust/dirt if its there. If you don't smoke you likely won't need to clean the mirror, but it may need it. Use windex or similar for tough grime.. I can usually reach up to get the whole mirror but I've heard of using a swiffer mop to reach the top. Removing the screen is difficult but possible if needed to get inside. Don't touch the back of the screen but lightly with a rag to get cobwebs, etc.

D40x Camera with mirror lens = black pictures

Usually tele lenses need longer exposure, and mirror lenses need more than normal lenses.Try with 1sec, half sec,( 2 in the speed dial, not 2" ) or quarter sec (4 in the speed dial) exposures.

One more thing, you need good sturdy stands to hold cameras.
