The qw is an older device that doesn't have Windows Vista support.  Assuming you are running Vista, you will need the HS version.  Here is a link to the current Keyspan USB support, verify Vista support before purchasing:  USB Connectivity & Device Servers

Connecting problems

Installation
The scripts communicate with the Jandy system through a USB Serial Adaptor (e.g. the Keyspan USA-19HS USB Serial Adapter) connected to the Jandy Aqualink RS Serial Adaptor.

In order to use these scripts with SerialX, you will need to separately download and install SerialX as a Scripting Addition. As currently written, you will also need to determine the exact name of your serial connection and edit the following statement in both scripts:

property SerialConnectionName : "/dev/cu.USA19H47P1.1" -- Replace "dev/cu.USA19H47P1.1" with the name of your USB Serial Adaptor.

After editing, drag the Jandy Aqualink attachment script into the folder: /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/Scripts/Attachments
and the Jandy Aqualink background sync script into the folder: /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 4/Scripts/Background Tasks
Initiating use of the background script is typically accomplished by establishing a Trigger Action that activates on Indigo Server restart.

Usage
Assumes a Jandy Aqualink RS-4 or RS-8 Pool/Spa combination with auxiliary 1 set for pool light and auxiliary 2 set for spa light.

Unlike the previous version, the background script will now automatically execute periodically after being initiated (typically with a Trigger Action that activates on Indigo startup), will create variables as needed, and will update the status of those variables. By default the updates occur every 30 sec for most items using a single "#LEDS?" command, and every 30 min for the temperatures, with error detection if something does not update correctly. If the Spa is heating, temperature updates default to every 2 min. Variables created include AirTemp, ErrorFree, NextTempUpdate, PoolHeatEna, PoolHeatOn, PoolLightOn, PoolPumpOn, PoolSetPoint, PoolStateOn, PoolTemp, SpaHeatEna, SpaHeatOn, SpaLightOn, SpaSetPoint, SpaStateOn, SpaTemp.

I was just given a 180e embroidery machine ( I am a total novice) and I am not sure how to connect the dongle and get designs that are in my computer. Thank you so much cat

I am not exactly sure of this particular model. But the dongle should just plug into the computers port on the back of the computer.

USB to Serial port cable for Bernina Artista 180

Just happen to be sitting in front a Bernina 180 at this very moment - with the connecting cable attached to a Keyspan USA-19HS Adapter. It is a current adapter available from either Keyspan (www.keyspan.com) or any number of computer retailers - physical or online. Seems to run around $30.00 just about everywhere. Auction sites may have bargain. Worked like a charm on an older XP computer as I was able to test the older software I had due to it having the necessary parallel port the the older dongle. While I am fairly certain this combination would also work on my Windows 7 computer, I am unable to test it as I have not come across a parallel adapter that will work with the older software parallel dongle. I've had other programs/peripherals that utilize usb to serial adapter (on my Windows 7) that have worked fine, so I suspect this would also be the case.

Hope this helps. If you have specific questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Happy stitching,
Kim

I need a Vista driver for the USA-19QW Serial Adapter

I have an old 4-port Keyspan serial device that also doesn't work with Vista.  Unfortunately Keyspan didn't provide Vista drivers for some of the older USB to Serial devices before they were acquired by Tripp-Lite, so you will probably need to get a replacement (Keyspan usa-19hs has Vista support, that one works for me).  The support page for Keyspan USB devices is here: USB Connectivity & Device Servers

Pfaff 7570 connection to new XP laptop

In this FAQ list (from PFAFF web) you find 100 times the same question and answer:
H402 My new computer does not have any serial COM ports, so how does it communicate with my Pfaff creative 7570?

You will need to obtain a USB Serial Adapter, which adds a serial port to your computer by plugging it into a USB port. Suitable adapters can be obtained from Belkin [http://www.belkin.com] and Keyspan [http://www.keyspan.com].
The following USB Serial Adapters are known to work with the Pfaff creative 7570:
• Belkin F5U103
• Keyspan USA-19QW
Please note that the Belkin F5U109 is listed as working with the Pfaff creative 2140/2144 (FAQ #H405), but it does not work the Pfaff creative 7570.
