My lg 47ln5400 led lights appear to have failed. Should I replace the power supply, or just the led strips?

If everything else seems to be working fine, it’s probably not a power supply failure. That usually results in the TV not turning on at all, or shutting off completely.

You have a power supply problem. If you are competent to delve into electricsl equipment, carry out the following, else get a tv engineer.
Remove the back cover and inspect the power supply which is the board connected to the mains lead. Look at all the capacitors which are shown below.

Make sure that none of these have bulging tops which can be seen below.

If any have, replace them.If they all seem ok, remove the board and inspect all solder joints under the board. If there are any dry or cracked solder joints, resolder.
If everything seems ok at this point, you may have a faulty semiconductor on the power supply board. If you have no standby light at all, i would order a new power supply board.

Power but no picture or sound

Actually, it seems the the ballast might have got damaged. This seems more like a ballast issue, it's easy to fix, plus ballasts run around 60 dlls.

Is the power supply completely dead ? If so with this model of power supply its very common for the resistor 3318 on power supply to go out. Causing the power supply to completely die. Take out the resistor 3318 its a 470 Ohm 1W resistor. check it if it doesn't read around 430-530 Ohm Its gonna be bad ( most likely ith will read in the mega ohms. Replace with a 470 Ohm 2 W resistor. Also check power supply for cracks

it is due to power supply failure. 1 check for loose contact in power supply. 2 it might be due to plug or socket loose. 3 switching circuit failure in power supply. good luck.
