Question about NEC VT460 Multimedia Projector

Lamp will not come on

Has anyone ever run into this problem before? I have a VT46 NEC Projector When I turn the power switch on the back of the unit, the power light on the top of the unit is orange, when I press the on/stand-by button on top the power light is steady green, fan comes on.

Within about 10 seconds then status light starts blinking green, for about 10 seconds then goes out for 5 seconds and comes back on a second time then fan kicks in high, the status light turns red and power light is now blinking orange for about 30 seconds and fan shuts off. Status light continues to blink in increments of 6 blinks over and over again power light remains steady orange.

The lamp light on the top of the unit NEVER lights up at all.

Lamp never lights up, I tried a different bulb projector does the same thing.

…and I do not have the remote anymore the person who used the projector when it last worked also lost the remote!!!

Can anyone help?

Ron

I have the same problem as DrRon only the reset doesn't work. When I power on the projector it tries to light the lamp twice and then gives the same status with the Status light blinking six times. I tried to reset but it did not work.

I have the same problem with mine. I tried holding in the enter button for 30s (and more) and got no response from the projector (i.e. the status light continued to blink). I also tried holding the the help button for a while and that also didn't help.

    Any other suggestions?

Great site, thanks everyone. I came here because my NEC VT48 wouldn't power up after a lamp replacement, and holding down HELP on the remote for 10 seconds fixed the issue. Bravo everyone.

Try pressing and holding the enter button on the projector for about 30 seconds - this resets it. It worked for me!!

I have an NEC VT470. The projector shut down after the lamp finished. When I replaced the lamp and pressed the start button, the projector does not come back on.

Some of the NEC units have a standby status when the lamplife has exceeded its safe limit, the unit I had needed the off button pressing for up to 20 seconds to reset the lamplife and allow the unit to be switched back on. There should be info for this in your manual.

First make sure that you have install the bulb correctly. There are number of issues that can cause this problem.

1.Check for dirty air filter and clean if need. Make sure the air filter cover is on all the way. Make sure the cover to the lamp is on all the way, and that the screws are tight.

2. First turn off and unplug the projector. Then remove and reinstall the lamp, with cover firmly fixed. Make sure are cover are properly fastened. You should get the projector to turn on by pushing the power button on the unit. Wait for an hour if you keep having this problem, then plug the unit back in.

3. Then reset the lamp timer. Sorry I don't how to reset the timer. I home manufactured an LED lamp for mine, so I don't have to worry about replacing lamps anymore.

You might want to ask someone here on the fixya forums how to do a hard reset of the timer and unit.

You might find projector central.com helpful, where the owers manual for the MT 1030 is available in PDF version.

You need to check the manual. It will tell you at the rear what the different lights mean.

NEC MT1050 Lamp Error

Does the status light stay on red? If it does then the lamp timer has exspired and will not let the projector turn back on until it is reset, at which time you should replace the lamp. To reset the timer you need the remote control, with the unit plugged in in standby mode hold down the power off button for 30 to 45 seconds until the status light goes off.

NEC LT240 has Power, Status & Lamp indicators lit & wont turn on!

If your bulb finally reaches it's end before you have the chance to replace it you unit will shut itself down and go into a permanent standby mode. Changing the bulb alone will not remedy the issue. The solution is quite simple but not posted in the manual or anywhere else that I could find for that matter! All that is required is to hold down the HELP button on your remote for 10 seconds while aiming at the infrared sensor on the unit. This will reset the units bulb timer and remove it from the standby mode.

NEC MT850

As there were no indicator lights lit I focused on the AC. The projectors work as they should in another location and as such I am fairly certain the problem is associated with the AC power in the particular room. I haven't isolated the exact condition as yet.

Thanks
