have a look under the machine where the tub hose goes to the pump
the catcher is in that hose
the tub hose will go in the top and the pump hose in the side so that any items drop to the bottom and are not put through the pump impeller
it could get caught in the water pump or between the water pump and hose outlet, it could be caught between the agitator and the washing machine tub or it could be in the **** Trap in the wall, since it's heavier than water it would be the most likely place. and if not there then the over fill tub on the sides.
I doubt the ring could get over the tub top. If you want to remove the agitator, lift the bottom edge then atthe same time hit the top the opposit direction, pulling up. good luck
what kind of machine do you have?
