I need to replace the printhead the printer keeps coming up error the type of printhead is incorrect install the correct printhead

A lot of Canon printer's users come across with the error message, "U052 This type of print head is incorrect." It is a very common error on Canon printers and is fairly easy to troubleshoot.

There are two different scenarios related to U052 kind of error message.One is where the print head is not installed at all and then it is giving the 'U052 This type of print head is incorrect' error message.

And, the second scenario is where the print head is installed nut it is not functioning properly or probably not working at all. The below section will show step by step troubleshooting of both the scenarios.

U052 This type of print head is incorrect

That error is a Carriage error, which means that the printer carriage (the bit that holds the cartridges) is unable to move or similar.

Make sure you've installed the cartridges correctly and that the grey lever that holds down the printhead is in the down and locked position.

You may find that you've installed the printhead incorrectly so worth pulling out the cartridges, removing the printhead and then reseating it so the lever goes down to a horizontal position. Then reinsert the cartridges.

I have same problem, Kodak suggest calling customer support for replacement part.

That happens when the printhead goes out, you'll need a new printhead,QY6-0075-000 around $50.00

The printhead has gone out, you need a replacement, # QY6-0059-000. Around $50.00

It just means that the printhead is defective, All of the Canon machines say that when the printhead goes out.

around $40.00

Hi follow the instructions as above...
ie Remove inks and print head...

But instead...
Whilst Canon print head is out...

Use cotton wool and alcohol and clean electrical contacts on back of print head and where they make contact inside printer.

Then install print head and inks and test.

If it does not work you may need to replace print head.

Ok i know this is kinda old, but i found a solution.

First to those people to state I found a solution from hp, cannon etc etc and not give out the direct link, or instructions, then whats the point fing posting????

This error happens when you install an oem cartridge onto your system. Or havent used it in a while, so the machine is somehow misfigured.

This solution is for canon mp800, simply switch off printer. HOLD stop/reset and press and HOLD on/off button. release stop/reset. Now press stop.reset twice. then release on/off button, press stop/reset 4 times, wait 20 seconds, press on/off button twice.

switch machine back on and the printer should find the cartridges.

This method maybe the same for your mp*** if not google RESET CANON PRINTER MP*** and you'll find the correct buttons to press.
