Question about Bose & Wave& Music System

2 Answers

Skips mp3"s My Bose wave music system will play commercially recorded and purchased cd's with no problems. CD's or mp3's recorded from i-tunes or other downloads have drop outs of varying lengths.when played, i.e., from a couple of seconds to 5-10 minutes. This has not always happened. The problem started a while ago. Bose could not identify the problem when contacted and indicated I needed to send in the system for them to diagnose for $75 plus shipping and handling. I have the sneaky suspicion they're going to tell me the system needs to be replaced. Any ideas??

That's exactly what I mean. It will play and then just stop. It will start again and then stop, etc.

My bose wave radio/cd plays some cd's but not others. At first I thought it just would not play cd's that were burned from i-tunes etc., but it also does not play some that have been bought brand new. I will take the cd that will not play and put it in another player and it works. Any suggestions?

    Thank You
    Karen

Three solutions: One, Optical pickup/Eye needs replacing or cleaning (see other Post for more detailed info.). Two, try using Higher Quality Blank CD's note do not use "DATA" storage CD's but "MUSIC" CD's. Third, try using another type of Software Program to burnt your CD's, some formats are not compatible to some opticals.

Not playable cds

If your CD's get scratched by being stacked on a table and shuffled around, you can often get them to play again with something like Skip Dr: http://www.amazon.com/SkipDr-Manual-Disc-Repair-System/dp/B0015ACUKC/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_2_0
You may also be able to take them into your local video or video game store and have them professionally resurfaced.

If the CD's are not scratched, and are commercially bought (ie. not cd's that you bought blank and burned music onto yourself) I would probably try contacting Bose.

Bose does not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively making themselves the only repair center for their products. Your only safe repair method is to contact the service/repair center at www.bose.com. They will likely offer you a flat rate repair or credit towards the purchase of a new unit.

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in

The cd player is not reading the discs. The read out flashes and blinks but it does not read the music off the disc.

Try removing the cover and clean glass laser eye lens with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't work, then laser lens circuit will need to be tested and replaced. You can use an ohmmeter to test the capacitors and circuit.

I have a bose acoustic wave, single disc model CD-3000. The CD is not working, the CD spins but won't play. The radio works great.

Had the same problem. Mine the cd drive got out of alignment. Sorry to say the fix is to have it replaced. BOSE will do this for about $150. Typically this includes the one year service agreement, a full system "tune up" and a one year warrenty.

Call BOSE and they will take care of you.
