Netbook Touchpad not working.

Can move the pointer, but when ''double-clicking'' the pad, nothing happens.

Also, mouse won't work either.

(Netbook is Asus. Can't remember the mouse.)

My stupidest problem: I can't get the external optical drive open (Asus).

Know the answers are probably really simple, but so am I.

Thanks.

Espero haberte ayudado, bye

Just fix this problem few minutes ago, located in the lower right corner icon that says Synaptics Pointing Device, right-click and select "Quick Touch to click, 'and ready! if you do not see the icon you have to go to Control Panel, go to Mouse in the Device Settings tab, select Animated Tray Icon in the taskbar and the icon in the taskbar, right clicking on this and select "Quick Tap to click"

    Hope that helps, bye

Gateway the touch pad not function why?

Adjusting the touchpad sensitivity on a Gateway laptop lets you fix and prevent annoying touchpad problems.
Often the touchpad is accidentally brushed while typing, which causes the cursor to move out of place.
Or you may find yourself having to tap too hard or too often on the touchpad to open windows and programs.
These problems can be fixed by simply adjusting the touchpad's sensitivity settings.
Click the "Start" button and double-click "Control Panel."
Double-click "Hardware & Sound" and choose "Mouse" to open the mouse properties box.

Choose the "Device Settings" tab. Highlight "Synaptic Touchpad" in the Devices box by clicking on it. Click the "Settings" button underneath the Devices box.
Choose "Sensitivity" in the properties settings box.
Click "PalmCheck" to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to accidental brushes against the pad while typing, which causes the cursor to move.
Click and hold the pointer to adjust the setting on the sensitivity scale.

Click "Touch Sensitivity" to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to tapping.
Click and hold the pointer to adjust the setting on the sensitivity scale.
A higher rating on the scale means less tapping pressure will be needed.

Click "OK" to save your touchpad settings.

Mouse pad not working

Examine your "Function"/"F" keys and look for a touchpad icon. If you find one, hold the "Fn" key and press the touchpad icon button to unlock the touchpad. Move on to Step 2 if your laptop doesn't support this feature. Plug a USB mouse into an open port on your laptop. Click the Windows "Start" button. Click "Control Panel" in Windows XP and double-click "Device Manager." Type "Device" in the search box in Vista and Windows 7 and click "Device Manager" from the results. Click "+" next to "Mice and other pointing devices." Right-click the touchpad and select "Enable." Your touchpad is now unlocked. Hope this helps.

My Dell Vostro 1014 laptop's touch pad does not work!! The buttons work fine but I'm having problems with the pad. The drivers are up to date and the application used to control the touchpad c

If you have a external mouse, or you can borrow, go into device manager to see if the pad is enabled, if okay! try a system restore bringing the computer back in time before this happened, if still no luck the sensor pad maybe defective, the last option a complete recovery of the operational system to factory setting, this will prove if the sensor pad is defective, or wire ribbon might have come loose from the motherboard.

Tapping on gateway nv 53 trackpad not working

This just happened on my HP2730P. I always used the click on the touchpad, plus used the right click button at the bottom. Yesterday it just decided to stop working and went haywier...it started doing the selecting and dragging while I was moving the mouse around and my left click stopped working. Obviously my enable tap click was already on cuz I used it all the time.

My solution was disabling the buttons under the "buttons" tab. Then my mousepad tap started working again, I regained function in the scrollbar on the mousepad again, and if I need to right click I can use the point stick buttons right above the pad.

OR

Does it start working when you reboot? If so, try changing the "Touchpad Sensitivity" option :)

My aspire D255E netbook is only about 2 months old, the mouse pointer moves, but i am not able to select anything using the touchpad or the touchpad buttons. I was wondering if there was a solution for...

Hi there,

Check if the drivers for the touchpad is installed. Usually you can find an icon at the system tray for your touchpad. Check device manager if there is a problem under mouse and other pointing devices. You can also try double clicking the device under that category and try to roll back the driver if possible. If it still does not work, try running a hardware diagnostics on the touchpad. It could be a hardware problem.
