This can mean many things...here are few things to check...
Make sure your wireless network card is installed and working properly ( you may have one that is built in or an external one)
Make sure your wireless card can see your internet connection.
CHeck to make sure the security settings (WEP/WAP) are not preventing you...
Lastly, make sure you turn off all firewalls while troubleshooting.
