Drummernick - do you know more about this model?? I have convergence issues that I've yet to post on this forum.

  • Cazzzmo Feb 09, 2008

yes, I've already both of the STK-110 ''chips'' professionally replaced but that didn't fix the problem. Its actually worse now in that both red and blue wont line-up whereas before it was only the red gun. I took the board to my local TV guy to have him do the soldering (i bought the new STKs on ebay, they might've been el cheapos). He said he didn't see any resistors burnt out or anything. I suppose you're right. The whole board needs replacing. Don't get any signal to the red beam anymore either. any suggestions? where to get a board?? my TV guy is retiring . . . he basically shut the doors last week so he's not really an option.

Have you popped off the volume control key and cleaned out any debris? It's possible the key is partially depressed and the cover is finalizing the press.

Removing the protective screen on our Pioneer SD-532HD5

Pop the bottom front cover off (that is over the speakers) first. This will expose 2 brackets that hold the moulding around the screen in place. Un-screw the brackets enough so you can get the moulding off and take it off. Once the moulding off you will see the brackets that hold the actual screen in place. Loosen these brackets and VERY carefully remove the screen (it will wobble and bend so I would recommend 2 people do this). Lay the screen down on a soft surface that will not scratch it. Clean and re-install screen, tighten brackets, re-install moulding, tighten brackets and pop the speaker cover back on.

How do i clean my screen

CRT Rear-Projection - Before you can begin cleaning, you need to determine if you do, or do not have a screen shield. A screen shield is a hard plastic cover over the front of the TV screen. If you can't tell, give the front of the TV a light tap. Another way to tell is to check for ridges in the screen area. If you can feel ridges on the screen, then you do not have a screen shield. Rear projection TVs without a screen shield require a special kind of cleaner and rag. These are available for purchase at your local TV service center. Those that do have a screen shield should be cleaned with a dry or damp soft cloth. If it's extremely dirty, a mild soap may be used. Do not use paper products, such as paper towels, to clean the screen shield. Paper products can easily scratch the surface of the shield. Screen shields can have a tendency to streak while cleaning. If this happens, use a dry cloth and buff the screen in a small circular motions.

Dirty screen but it is behind the outside screen.

The front screen with the frame does remove from the cabinet giving you access to the mirror and CRT lens. Remove the speaker grill, remove the four screws on the bottom of the frame, then working underneath a corner proceed to pop the rivets holding the frame to the cabinet. It will seem impossible at first because you have to use a lot of force to pop each one out. When reinstalling,a rubber mallet may help popping each rivet back in (I am not kidding when I say they are tight)
