  • keith43 Mar 11, 2008

I cannot use my scanner with windows vista. I have a pc and a laptop both with vista. I get the same error message on both. I have used the cleaner and also removed the Kodak folder from Program files and tried to reinstall the software, but I just keep going round in circles. I get the Internal error 2738 when I am running the cleaner on both pc and laptop. I have also installed this on another pc running XP and everything works fine.

  • sd123 Mar 12, 2008

Yes, I do have the User Account Control turned on, that is not what's causing the problem.

  • keith43 Mar 12, 2008

I have tried turning User Control Off as you suggest, but it makes no difference. I have a Philips pc and an Acer laptop both running Vista, the problem is the same on both of these. I also have it installed on a Medion pc at home running XP and I have no problems using the printer or scanner. My father also has a Compaq pc running XP with the same AIO printer and he has full functionality with his.

  • OLD BILL Mar 14, 2008

I have not solved problem. Latest attempt: Kodak had me do msconfig and take the check out of all my start up programs. I eventually got same error code. I am waiting for them to call back.

  • keith43 Mar 15, 2008

Tried removing all proram and program data files and downloaded the microsoft cleaner. Reinstalled with just the printer option, but when I then click on the AIO icon on desktop nothing happens also the same when I go to it through Start Programs.

  • OLD BILL Mar 16, 2008

After clearing your previous downloads of east share, do to www.kodak/go/easysharesw. I used the new east share 6.4 at that location and it finally fixed the 1638x17x3669580518x problem after well over a week. Good Luck.

  • OLD BILL Mar 16, 2008

www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw is the proper site for the fix. Sorry about the previous one.

  • Nick Armitt Jun 15, 2008

My parent's bought a Kodak 5300 AIO sometime ago, installed it and it worked. Now for soem reason windows (XP Home Edition) keeps reverting to a previous printer they owned (Which I have now removed and Windows now states that there is no printer.) The only software that was installed before the last time the computer was shut down prior to this happening was a video file converter (AVGold or something) which I have since rmeoved along with the last five previous installations, all CD burning or convertion software. The only other thing that had been changed on the system was a Windows update.

I am not computer illiterate (I am training up to build and maintain/repair PCs) but I will be the first to admit that I am stumped. Can anyone please help???

I cannot install the 5300aio software. When I first bought the printer and

installed the software my computer a DELL desktop running WinXP

would crash. A new download from Windows now will not allow the

installation of Kodak 5300 AIO software because it is not licenced

by Windows XP. The printer plus software is complete **** and a real

costly one at that. What can I do to get my money back? Kodak used

to stand for something now all it stands for is let's cheat the customer

while we are still in business.

Ok, well the User Account Controll can change allot on vista but if you are sure thats not what is causing the problem, then I dont know where to start. I have been seeing Dell's name very often with problems people are having with Vista. Can you try installing the software and printer on another PC, like a friend's or family's?
If they have a vista system and it works, It could help people narrow down the problem.

  • SDtester
    SDtester May 11, 2010

For the vista users with this problem, Do you have the User Account Control turned on? if you are unsure, you can tell its on because every time you run a program or change something a window comes up asking if vista can complete the operation and you have to click continue.

Are you using the Software CD you got with the printer? Have you tried going to their webpage and downloading the new software? here is the link http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn033540.jhtml?operatingSystem=windows_vista&downloadLanguage=en

That cleaner software has to be used a special way. And I am not sure if it was made for vista. Just make sure you uninstall the kodak software. then run the cleaner. Then try and install the new software from the link above.

Are you by chance using an Apple Computer which also has Safari?

If so, you may have a register or .dll problem. Get to your location to type in the cmd prompt. (Either on start, run or windows button + r) once you have typed the cmd prompt, type "regsvr32vbscript.dll" and hit the enter key. ignore any error codes and this may clear any problems.

There should be a space after regsvr32. Should look like this:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

That should clear up the error preventing you from running the clear utility.

If the clear utility fails, you can try a manual cleanup:

Delete the following folders from your computer:
c:\program files\kodak
c:\programdata\kodak
c:\programdata\eastman kodak company
c:\programdata\kds_kodak

If you can not see the ProgramData folder, click the Organize button, go to Folder and Search Options, click View, and enable Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Then download the Windows install cleanup utility from here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Use it to remove the following packages:
center, aioprnt, aioscnr, aioocr, anything starting with "ess", anything starting with "kgc", help_ctr, sfr, and tooltips

This list may not be exhaustive, I'm doing it off of memory. There is a file named "manifest.bom" on the installation CD that has all of the packages listed there, but it's hard to navigate.

Once you have done that, disable any anti-virus software and try installing the latest version of the software from their website. I would recommend doing a custom install and only enabling the first option (the printer software).

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Since I am not sure of the details, let me offer a long review and suggestion. It may work for you, especially if the AiO software is not installing correctly.

If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or an error message appears, there may be a problem with the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation. To resolve this condition:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add / Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (for Windows Vista).
3. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

IMPORTANT: If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not perform this operation on those other versions. Follow this procedure ONLY for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

4. Click Change / Remove (for Windows XP) or Uninstall (for Windows Vista).

5. Select Repair, and click Next.
NOTE: A progress bar shows the repair progress.

6. After the repair is complete, make sure the Restart the computer check box is selected, and click Finish.

7. After the computer restarts, start the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

IMPORTANT: If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or continues to display an error message, completely uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and do a clean reinstall KODAK AiO Home Center software. The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 will also be reinstalled with the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 above.

2. Select Uninstall, and click Next.
IMPORTANT: Uninstall ONLY Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not uninstall them.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Perform a clean re-installation of the KODAK AiO Home Center software:

a. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer, including the Kodak EasyShare all-in-one printer.
NOTE: Do not disconnect your mouse or keyboard.
b. Uninstall the Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software:

1. In the Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Program and Features (Windows Vista).
2. Select one of the following software programs from the list of currently installed programs, depending on which one appears in your list:

Kodak EasyShare software
Kodak all-in-one printer software
Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software

3. Click Change or Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista).

I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine:
1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer
2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall
3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software
4. disconnect the cables from the Printer
5. download from Kodak.com the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program
(I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load)
6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables
7. rebooted

WORKED for ME !
