Same problem - no suction but the brush is spinning. Cleared all areas but still doesn't seem to work.

  • MotherofFour Mar 10, 2008

I have the SAME problem. The roller is turning great, but all the dust and dirt is collecting at the end of the short hose (hose from the roller to the duster container) and won't go any further. There is practically NO suction from the long hose at all and the "hurricane" cannister isn't hurricaning anything. What little dust that actually makes it into the cannister just sits there.

I've cleaned all the filters a couple of times and I've cleared ALL of the hoses thuroughly. There's just no suction for no apparent reason. I've even removed the duster container and connected the accessory hose directly to the short hose, but no luck. At this point, even the accessory hose won't pick up a small piece of styrofoam.

I've only had the vacuum about 3 weeks. I haven't used any kind of carpet freshener or any small, dusty material with the vacuum. I've called the Eureka people and they didn't have any solution. The nearest Eureka dealer is about 70 miles away, so I'm reluctant to drive there with the cost of gas (would probably be cheaper to just get another vacuum) and have them tell me it's just a switch or something that I need to flick! HELP!

Have the same problem. I have cleaned, changed the belt, but it still doesn't vacuum.

Is the roller turning, if not you may need a new belt and/or brush roll. Did you check the inlet by the brush roll?

My vacumn won't pick or suction up and bag is not full. I cleaned out the hose checked and belt running I have no other answer please help. It's an upright lux guardian

The output filter on that unit is HEPA and traps all particles. You need to clean or replace that filter because the airflow cannot leave through it and it wont develop suction.

Suction stopped. Roller and belt working-in fine order. Checked hoses have not found any blockage. Blowing out air or sucking so little can't feel it with hand on hose end. Help!

Either a blockage or the main air filter is blocked , some it can be washed and others it must be replaced

I would check the owner manual and look at the filter, foam ones can and usually have instructions where they install to wash them.

No suction when vacuuming, but suction is good when using hose

check for blockage from where the hose sets in its
holder to the roller brush. Also see if the brush is
turning, the belt maybe broken.

Fantom twister wont work light is on

When you say, "just stopped", did the MOTOR stop operating and there's no sound from it at all? Or, is the motor still working or sounds like it does, and it stopped vacumning?

If the MOTOR stopped, most likely there is a short somewhere in the connection at the motor. Think 'repair shop'.
If the motor still runs and there's no VACUMN ACTION, think Roller Brush which operates by virtue of a rubber belt. Turn the machine on its side and turn it ON, keeping FINGERS !AWAY! from the roller area. If the Roller Brush is not moving it may be that the belt has slipped off or is broken or simply too loose to turn the Roller. Also sometimes debris such as strings, long hair, carpet strands/fibers will become wrapped around the roller especially next to the roller bearing/brace points, to the point of binding so tightly that the roller will no longer be able to actually roll which would now prevent it from 'Vacumning' or sweeping dirt and such up into the vortex of the vacumn chamber. In which case, !!UNPLUG!! the machine, use small scissors to cut away the material wrapped around the roller paying particular attention to the brace point areas.

Check brush roller is spinning when vacuuming.
Check short clear hose under machine for rips & blockages.

Willnt pick up good...

I had this problem once too. When the hose is inserted into the vacuum, the floor unit (where the spinning brushes are) becomes the head of the vacuum. In other words, the suction goes through the floor part and then up through the hose and into the vacuum. If the suction is good when the hose is out, the the problem is blockage at the bottom piece. Take the cover off of the rollers (it is one screw then it pops right off) and see if there is a bunch of lint/hair/gunk blocking the suction hole. You could also take the hose part out of the vacuum and look down the empty shaft with a flashlight and see if you see anything there. Hope this helps!
