Monitor gets a blue hue

My monitor will suddenly get a blue hue, I have tried new monitor cables and that did not resolve the problem. The hue does not stay blue but goes back and forth. I believe that someone might have dropped the monitor and did not tell me. What can I do to fix the problem?

Found that my laptop monitor is fine with the video card so it is the monitor...I will deal with it until I can get the funds to replace it. The good news is I can upgrade from a 15" now.

My computer has the same problem the blue hue stays on more than off. We just bought a brand new monitor and the blue hue came back.

    What else could it be?

What cable are you talking about?

    Any help would be appreciated.

My computer is 4 years old and the monitor is a Dell CRT. A couple of months ago it started getting this blue hue off and on. Now it is more on than off. By what I'm reading, It looks like I will have to get a new monitor since I don't have the video card. They say that it's a pure sign that a new monitor is needed when it starts turning blue especially when it's a CRT.

Hey Tricky Cat!

My first advice would have been the cable...since that did not resolve it it can only be 1 of two other things...the video card (might be intregrated on your motherboard)...or the monitor.

To test plug in another monitor if you have one. If the problem resolves it is the monitor...if not then the video card.

You will have to way your expenses to fix...usually a monitor is cheaper to well as a video card. If it is integrated the cheapest route is to buy a new video card and turn off the old one in the BIOS.

Good luck my friend.

This is likley a problem with the monitor's signal cable. Try moving the cable around steadily and see if the color suddenly goes back to normal or changes to a yellow hue. If this is the case and you are able to remove both ends of the cable then a replacement can easily be purchased from a local computer store or online. (Try or

I am using my samsung monitor (SyncMasterfor half a day now and all of a sudden the clear display started to be blurred with blue. I don't know what to do ? kindly help...

If it has turned blue, it is most likely that the cable has become loose. Try tightening the cable at the back of the monitor as well as the PC.

If you continue to see issue, try switching the cable with a new one.

My liquid video a170e101 appears to have a blue green hue so i would assume that the red is malfunctioning is there a way to fix it change a chip etc. a schematic would be cool as well if some has it

First of all ensure that it's not the the monitor cable (to PC) that causing that problem. If the Red/ Green/Blue data cable (inside the bundle of the monitor cable) or one of them not connected (due to too much bending) can make the monitor displayed improperly

Restarted computer and now have blue hue. changed cables from analog to digital (tried two cables), reinstalled graphics card driver, no luck. Monitor is less than year old. Wondering what problem could...

Try moving the cable around...
try another monitor

You could also try opening your computer and taking the video card off and putting it back on... Don't do this if you are not sure that you can :)

Blue hue on screen

Try a different known working monitor on the vga port of your laptop. If the replacement monitor works then you definitely know its a problem with your original monitor. If the replacement monitor shows the same blue hue then you know the vga port is bad on the laptop which would mean replacing the motherboard since its connected to the laptop.
