Monitor gets a blue hue

My monitor will suddenly get a blue hue, I have tried new monitor cables and that did not resolve the problem. The hue does not stay blue but goes back and forth. I believe that someone might have dropped the monitor and did not tell me. What can I do to fix the problem?

Found that my laptop monitor is fine with the video card so it is the monitor...I will deal with it until I can get the funds to replace it. The good news is I can upgrade from a 15" now.

My computer has the same problem the blue hue stays on more than off. We just bought a brand new monitor and the blue hue came back.

    What else could it be?

What cable are you talking about?

    Any help would be appreciated.

My computer is 4 years old and the monitor is a Dell CRT. A couple of months ago it started getting this blue hue off and on. Now it is more on than off. By what I'm reading, It looks like I will have to get a new monitor since I don't have the video card. They say that it's a pure sign that a new monitor is needed when it starts turning blue especially when it's a CRT.

Hey Tricky Cat!

My first advice would have been the cable...since that did not resolve it it can only be 1 of two other things...the video card (might be intregrated on your motherboard)...or the monitor.

To test plug in another monitor if you have one. If the problem resolves it is the monitor...if not then the video card.

You will have to way your expenses to fix...usually a monitor is cheaper to replace...as well as a video card. If it is integrated the cheapest route is to buy a new video card and turn off the old one in the BIOS.

Good luck my friend.

My monitor is very blue suddenly. Is this the monitor issue and how do I fix it.

That could be the monitor or the video card, or even the cable connecting them.
If the RED signal dies, you are left with green and blue - so everything goes green/blue.
Check the connections at the video card and at the monitor.
Either try another monitor on your computer, or try your monitor on another computer to determine which is at fault if the cable isn't the issue.

My background on my screen recently developed a purple hue to it, instead of a white. Can this be corrected?

This is likley a problem with the monitor's signal cable. Try moving the cable around steadily and see if the color suddenly goes back to normal or changes to a yellow hue. If this is the case and you are able to remove both ends of the cable then a replacement can easily be purchased from a local computer store or online. (Try www.amazon.com or www.monoprice.com).

Hi, the monitor suddenly turns a very green/yellow hue and is doing it more regularly now, it sometimes just as quickly goes back to normal. Any ideas? thanks

It can be the cable, please check all the pins at both ends and make sure they fit tightly to the connector at the monitor and at the PC, it can be the video card rpblem also so you need to try this monitor with other PC.

Blue verticle line is displayin

The blue line is most likely the result of your monitor's screen going bad. One thing you can try is disconnecting and re-connecting your video cables to make sure it's tight and has a good connection. This probably won't help, but it's worth a try. You may also want to connect the monitor to another computer to see if the blue line stays, or goes. If the blue line stays with another computer connected, the problem is inside the monitor. If the line goes away, you should replace/repair your computer's video card and/or cable. Otherwise, you need to replace/repair your LG monitor.

It went this greenish yellow hue

Try resetting the monitor to defaults if possible. If you still have the greenish yellow hue then at that point, try another known working monitor on the computer, if the hue goes away then you know the original monitor is bad, if you still have the greenish yellow hue then you know the video card is bad.

Blue hue on screen

Try a different known working monitor on the vga port of your laptop. If the replacement monitor works then you definitely know its a problem with your original monitor. If the replacement monitor shows the same blue hue then you know the vga port is bad on the laptop which would mean replacing the motherboard since its connected to the laptop.
