Oven won't lite but broiler/burners do

Is there a way to manually light the stove? I am assuming the igniter may be gone?

The oven will not light MANUALLY. It has an electronic igniter that (if it is bad) will not open the gas valve in order for gas to flow. This is a built in safety feature that prevents free flowing gas from accumulating your home without ignition. The igniter has to be replaced. The part costs about $50 - $60 and is fairly easy to replace. If you can provide me with your COMPLETE model number (located somewhere around the oven door opening or lower drawer opening), I can locate a part number for you. I can also give you guidance on how to replace it. It is not recommended that you try to defeat any safety features on your range, either. Post back with comments if you need further assistance. I hope this helps you.

Yes, I think you have the answer. If you have the knowledge, check the electrical supply side, fuse etc. Check out your user manual in the fault finding section. The oven has a thermo switch that prevents the gas opening if theres no ignition.

Hello,

FOR THE OVEN NOT HEATING

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake igniter is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake igniter(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of igniter make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake igniter. I know it seems improbable that if the igniter comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the igniter comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak igniter is the cause 100% of the time

FOR THE SURFACE BURNER NOT LIGHTING The holes on the burner espically those around where the electrode are dirty/clogged. By using a paper clip/safety pin to push in and clear the holes then clean the burner up with some steel wool the burner should light. GENE

My gas was recently shut off for repairs from the gas company, now its back on and i dont know how to get my oven or stove back on

Ok you did not mention if your oven or stive had pilot lights or igniters. Given you asked the question how too turn it back on I have to assume it does not have electronic igniters. You need to light the pilot lights. There are 2 in top that are between each of the 2 burner sets. If you can not gain access to the pilot light by lifting the top of the stove up you can use a fire starter type lighter and re-light them. Sometimes they will self light if you just use a match on the burners.
As for the oven you can gain access 2 ways to the pilot light. One is to unlatch and remove the oven lower inside panel. The pilot light will be near the burner head. Just light it. The other is to remove the broiler drawer and reach way back in there to light the pilot light.

Again if you have igniter ignition all you have to do is turn on a burner or the oven. Good Luck.

Broiler doesn't lite, no gas going to pilot

Most cases Broiler ignitor is out, after you turn on the Broiler, check the voltage on Broiler ignitor 2 wires, if you have approx. 110v, then change the ignitor, but you don't have 110v, then check Broiler safety valve and oven thermostat, but 90% of the time is the Broiler ignitor. Have fun.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Oven bake ignites usually have lifetime 5-7 years. If igniter glows but gas not came in - replace igniter. Same with broil igniter.

hi there,

if it's just the stove, it's not the control board because the rest of your stove work. if it's just the oven, it most likely the thermostat, blower or the heat probe. go to www.reliableparts.com to get parts for it.

GAS RANGE / SF368LEPT

Your probably right. The oven sensor, or what you call a probe, when open will not light the oven. Take it out and check for 1 to 1.5K ohms. at room temp. if you don't have that replace the sensor.
