Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

Unit turned of a few days ago and now won't turn on

I've tried all the resets I know (holding menu+center button after turning hold on and off a few tiimes, or holding menu+play/pause, or holding ff and rw at the same time), nothing seems to work. I left it plugged into my computer overnight. It doesn't show up as connected to the computer either.

Um, ya, in my question I mentioned that I was toggling the hold switch off and on a few times, so, ya, that's not it.

Did you make sure that your hold switch isn't turned on? If it's on, none of the buttons will work. It's probably on the top of the ipod, but it could be on the bottom.

I will still try to help you with your issue, even though you rated me inappropriate.
Sorry, I overlooked that. When you reset it, you need to hold the center button and menu button with hold turned off.

In rare cases, iPod might get into a state in which it needs to be
drained completely before it can be reset. If iPod didn't turn on after
you reset it, follow these steps:

    1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.

    2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or computer and reset it.

If you try the solution above and iPod still won't turn on, check the following:

    • Make sure iPod is the only device in your
FireWire or USB chain. Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard,
and your iPod, then see if it will turn on.

    • Make sure you are using the FireWire or USB cable that came with your iPod, and that the cable is in good condition.

    • Try connecting iPod to the built-in port of a different computer to see if that works.

If those don't work, you're probably going to need to get it repaired. Check your warranty status here:

Ipod classic won't turn on, battery with lighting bolt when plugged in.

You probably need to reset your IPOD. Here are the directions:
1. Unplug the IPOD from the power source.
2. Slide the hold switch or button to HOLD and back again.
3. Then press the MENU and CENTER buttons at same time until the Apple logo appears.
You should be back up and running. If not, try again and remember to make sure you press MENU and CENTER buttons at the SAME time and continue to hold them down as long as it takes for Apple logo to reappear. I once had to hold them for more than a minute before an IPOD touch would reset.

My apple ipod touch wont turn on

I've seen this before. You need to reset it.

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.

I hope this works!

My ipod nano 8GB will not turn on what do i do?

i have a few things for you to do first are simple and 2nd is to try a hard reset.
make sure it is charged

hold down the "select" and the "menu" buttons together until the apple logo pops up.

if this doesnt work then lets try a hard reset
To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including:
  • iPod nano (4th generation)
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
if that doesnt work take it to a store that sells them and see what they say. If it is under warranty get it repaired for free. If it is not look into how much it will cost to have it repaired versus replacing and figure out what is more cost effective.

if you need further assistance on any of the steps please let me know and i will be glad to
assist you. Thanks and have a great day.

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector) ipodg1-2.gif ipodg3.gif
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.
