Question about JVC GR-D71 Camcorder

Open Question

Loss of picture when recording or viewing (LCD).

Hello JVC community members,

I have owned a GR-D71U for over 2 years now. Recently traveled to Vegas and to my dismay, no more picture when recording or playing back. The display only shows what I'd described like very fuzzy shadows. Tried the following:

- with battery
- with AC only (no battery)
- viewing already recorded tape

All of the above yielded no positive results. I suspect that repairs may be the only solution to consider, but I still wanted to poke the folks who know these products, in the event I missed something.

Thanks to all who will take the time to read & respond back.

SOURCE: no playback on JVC GR-D72

It souunds like the problem is in the Vid-PC connection. I suggest you start by downloading the latest version of whatever software you have used to capture and view.

Also - uninstall any hardware in the PC that is used to capture (just remove from system device list) and then restart the PC and let it detect and re-install.

If you don't know how to do these steps, then you'll need geek help.

SOURCE: Describe your JVC GR-D240 Mini

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

JVC Picuture gets blurry

The ccd block is starting to fail. Thats the chip thats the eye of the camcorder at the back of the lense assy. Its mounted on a small circuit board. You can find the chip at parts.com. Its just a matter of dissassembling the camcorder and removing the chip from the board and soldering another onto it taking care not to over heat the chip. You do need good soldering skills.
