Just a suggestion, but you obviously posted this problem in the wrong section, because the SA178 does not support video. For other SA models, however:
First, The Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter that came with the installation CD is used for converting and transferring video files specifically to your device. If you have lost the CD, grab the updated Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com.
Second, even that Media Converter cannot handle a full-length DVD. You will have to acquire a video editing software that will allow you to break the video into 15-minute chunks. Run each chunk through the Media Converter and you will have to watch the video in 15-minute pieces.
Go to www.usasupport.philips.com , enter in your GoGear model number, click on the exact model number, and then click on the software and drivers tab; there will be the latest version of the "Device/Firmware Manager" on the website.
So you mean the Cd wont work? well the cd doesn't have much , you can download it from the philips website(go to http://www.philips.ca/index.page and search in the exact model number, on the side of your mp3 where the usb connection is and there might be the cd software) Thogth the cd might have the deivce manger which you might need like I do for repaering.
Due to the sudden device switch off. the device might be damaged. these devices flas disk devices are highly fragile. it must be handled properly. if not data.device wil be lost. Get hardware support from the device manufacturers website. if all these not possible. try replacing the device..
Here's the url for the Philips website, user manual for the MP£ player. You'll need Abobe Acrobat to view it.
