I have a ti84 plus silver edition. Recently, it has started to turn off when I am in the middle of the problem. No error message comes up and I just press on and it comes back on with all data there. Happens when I am using it, not at rest. How do I fix this.

If the contrast setting is too dark (set to 9) or too dim (set to 0) the unit
may appear as if it is malfunctioning or turned off. To adjust the contrast,
press and release 2nd, and then press and hold upper arrow or down arrow key.
press the clear key if this don' t work try finding the
the reset button in the back of the calculator or remove the batteries from it for one minute and put them back in and turn it back on again . if that fails than buy a new calculator because you got a defective calculator that some how got pass inspection.
TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.
That is what I get with your numbers on the TI84 Plus Silver Edition 0.1870313608. I get the same on the TI83 Plus. What can I say?. Apart from an error entering the numbers ( a 6 for a 9, a 3 for an 8) I cannot think of anything else. Sorry.
You cannot get the calculator to behave as you describe just by connecting it to the computer. You must have done some other manipulations. Try to find a classmate who has the same calculator (TI84 Plus or TI84 Plus Silver Edition) and effect a transfer of the OS from the classmate's calculator using an IO cable.
The standalone version of the OS for the TI84Plus/TI84Plus SE are not
for TI-Nspire with TI84 keyboard. The 94 Plus part of the TI-Nspire is
updated when you update the OS of the TI-Nspire. The version numbers are
different. To update you TI84 portion of the TI-Nspire, update the OS for the TI-Nspire. Thy are now at Version 126.96.36.1993
Sorry, but that feature is not implemented on the TI84 family of calculators. No key or command will instruct the calculator to perform such a calculation. You may deplore such a shortcoming, but please, do not hold me responsible for it.
