Canon XTi Built in Flash

Does anyway know why the built in flash would suddenly stop functioning?  Won't pop up when the button is pressed and won't function even if you lift it up manually.

I found the answer and fixed my flash. Look on http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00ODWf

This will describe how, if you have been using a speedlite alot, than the little tab under the shutter release side of the hot shoe can get bent down thus constantly pressing down (toward the bottom of the camera) the small button which deactivates the pop-upCanon XTi Built in Flash - 1.gif flash even when the speedlite is not attached. Just bend the tab up a little with a jewler's screwdriver, turn the camera off and on and voila!! Fixed!!! Dan describes pushing the tab down, but on the xti, the tab needs to be bent up to release the flash deactivation switch and fix the problem. Thanks to Dan D on photonet for saving me a service call.

The pop up button only works in certain modes: P, Av, Tv or M modes. Make sure you have one of those modes set then you control the flash by pressing the button.
In other modes the flash pops up automatically in green box, Portrait, Close Up, and Night Portrait modes. The flash is off in Landscape, Sports, and No Flash modes.

My powershot G9 built in flash is not working

There is a switch on the hot shoe to detect the external flash. When you use an external flash, the switch will be pressed down, then the unit will bypass the internal flash and won’t let it fire. If the little switch gets stuck somehow, you won’t get your internal flash on.
Check this switch on the hot shoe (either on the left side or the right side), blow some compressed air then plug/unplug an external flash several times. Hopefully you can get it back

Canon Camera Rebel XTi reads error 05 and the flash will not pop up

Err 05 means: Something obstructed the built-in flash's pop-up operation. Turn off the main switch and turn it on again.

Prepare to press the flash request button with your left hand. With your right hand, position your thumb and finger to gently pry up the flash head, perhaps using fingernails. Push the button and pry. With that help, it should pop up.

Built-in flash does not work

DO NOT MESS with a new camera (or any other new equipment).
Take/send it back to the vendor, The purchaser has rights also. Number one it must work.
I don't know your location but in UK (& Europe) we have very strict consumer legislation.

Built-in flash auto pop-up problem

Does the 'pop up' pop up? If it does and still says obstructed- closes it and pop it again If it still persists Canon customer support will advise the next move. If a repair price seems high you could perhaps get a separate flash if the camera accepts them.
