I have a Lexmark X2480 printer/scanner. It has successfully completed all the tests, but the scanner is ignoring Omnipage, and I can find no way to direct the scan to it. I have tried re-registering, but Scansoft just ask me to put in a different code No. although it is correct and seemed to be inittially accepted the first time. At present the product qualifies as junk unless a way can be found to get the scanner to talk to it.

You can go to this page, select your operating system and download the driver and software utilities: LiDE25 support page This will allow you to work with your scanner.
If the CD contained some other bundled 3rd party software (like OmniPage OCR or PhotoStudio for example), then unfortunately it will not be available for download.
Go to the Omnipage sight, they should post the scanners that have problems with their software. If you ahve the packaging, the guide should tell you or direct you a site that carries this information. Call Epson DX scanner or go on line to their site and query them about the problem, they should help. Go to the Contact Us. This should help you good luck
I'm not sure what version of OmniPage you're working with. This manual's probably in the ballpark: ftp://ftp.scansoft.com/files/support/manuals/op15guide.pdf/
It looks like they suggest a different route, a different workflow process -- scan in all your images at once, then handle processing in a batch. I think you do some processing, then try to get the next image. This may have nothing at all to do with your "scanner error," but it's worth a try (and if/when you get the error resolved, this is a smarter way to use your time).
Before you go down that road, though, look for some updates. Some errors are often fixed with updates, and it's worth a try.
Look for updates to OmniPage. I believe you can look through the program itself -- was it Help: Update? You can also look here: http://support.nuance.com/downloads/
There may also be a somewhat newer driver for your scanner; I don't know; the only drivers there are about a year old. The link: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=119&modelid=15562 Scroll down a bit, click on the Drivers and downloads page.
Please please please let me know if this doesn't work for you. And if it doesn't, if you can write down the exact error message, we can try to find out some more answers. If you just bought it, you may also be eligible for free tech support from Canon and/or OmniPage; I don't know. They'll tell you to follow these same steps as well, I'm sure. =)
Acquire Text

When unistalled the previous Omnipage SE 4.0 and try to install new update vresion, an error message keep poping up saying a previous version of Omnipage is still installed in the computer and can not install the new version. No more trace is found for old version in Add/Remove screen. The problems are in the registry area. Just run regedit (export the registry as backup) and look for Scansoft under the software directory. Deleted all the Scansoft omnipage traces then restart the computer will solve the problem.
I presume your new laptop came with Vista and your old one had XP. Either convert your new laptop to XP (complicated but I wish I'd done it when I got my new computer rather than soldiering on with the indescribable rubbish system that is Vista), or install all the latest drivers, and MP Navigator. loads of the other stuff on the canon installation disk just won't work with Vista. If you have Omnipage SE installed, you will have to get an email link from Canon, whose support website leaves a lot to be desired. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=10444 Or go to canon europe whose site is not as good (weird to see Canon not going for the simple idea of global support) I just bought a new full version of Omnipage, but it does annoy me that so soon after buying the MP780 I had to go to all that trouble.
To scan a document to file (Scan to File), the WorkCentre must be directly connected to the workstation using a USB or parallel connection. Scan to File is not supported over an Ethernet connection.
