Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200

1 Answer

When washing a load, it made a wierd noise then smoke came out.

I believe something caught fire because it was a LOT of smoke. I unplugged it and vented my laundry room. I haven't tried to use it again.

Unplug your unit then tilt it back. Check your belt to be sure it didnt pop and get hung up in the motor assembly. If belt seems ok, look at the main drive pully, see if it turns freely. If not, the brake assembly or transmission may have went bad, and you will need special tools to remove it. Do not try to take apart brake assembly, it will pop off and injure (people have actually been seriously hurt, and have heard of a death or two) you. Let me know what you find out, and will go from there. Thanks!!!!!

Washing machine makes noise when spining

What kinda of noise? If it's banging, it's an unbalanced load and you need to open the machine and realign the contents. Or the agitator may need to be adjusted If it's a squealing noise, you may have something caught around the adgitator. Anything else snd we'd more info

My washer is giving out sparks from underneath when the drum is spinning. What causes this and could I finish doing the load inside safely.

Sparks?

No do not finish the wash. This could be a shorted electrical wire or motor.Unplug the washer.Remove the wet wash and put it in the bath tub for now.

You will need to siphon out the water or remove it by bucket.Continuing the wash could lead to electric shock or a fire.

This happend to me 12 yrs ago and the washer caught fire.it was a bad motor and the grease caught fire under it.

My dryer was smoking.... i unpluged it, can you give me a possible reason why? it is about 3 years old and is a stackable heavy duty fridedare

I am assuming it was smoking while it was running. I am guessing you need to open the back and remove the lint build up. This is a common cause of fires, because it is by the heating filiment and catches fire when running if not kept clean.

The back can usually be removed by pulling the dryer away from the wall and unscrewing six to eight screws. When you open the back, you will see the bottom of the heating element. (the rest is enclosed) The lint tends to collect near the opening of this area. Make sure you have the dryer unplugged. It could get nasty if it is not unplugged before you start messing around.

If it is making a noise while smoking, the problem could be the belt is slipping while the basket is rotating.

Good luck!
