Need wep key on a motorola modem

If you need the Wep Key for your wireless connection you need to access the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Just follow the instruction below on how to access the router and obtain the Wep Key.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remember the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key or Wep Key.

You can find the WEP or WPA Key settings for your router under the "Wireless" or "Wireless Security" sections in your router settings on your PC. Security must be set to WEP key not to any other type of security setting in order for you to have access to WEP Key information

Wireless internet is provided with a wireless router. The router will be what you set up for the WEP or WPA codes.

If You are connected to the internet using the same motorola router then simply first take out the default gateway of your PC ( type ipconfig /all in cmd). put the default gateway in the adress bar of the the internet explorer or whatever the browser u are using that shoud give access to your motorola router screen and from their u can teh get the WEP key.

The WEP key is the security access key on your wireless router. If you do not know what it is you will have to log into the router and look it up. Below is links to access the WEP on a Belkin and SMC router. IF you do not have those or not those models let me know and I will make a walk through for you. Just let me know the make and model of your router.

ssid is service set identifier usually sniffer software will find them. the wep wirless encription protocall is a key number usually found on a sticker on the bottom of the wirless modem, router .

if your wireless modem/router is set up to enter a keycode you will need to get that first. you maybe able to connect automatically but usually you will need it.
go to your settings menu. scroll to internet settings and set up. run auto to search for router. be sure to know if you are using WEP or WPK key to access the router/modem. set any other settings that come up to auto.

You can see the WEP key at the side or bottom of your modem. Its the 10-digit code. If it is not listed there, you need to access the Setup Page of Motorola modem. Go to internet explorer and type http://192.168.1.254

wep key or router administrative password?
if you have router admin password, you just go to your router settings and reset, delete all WEP key setting
(i assume one that connect to your router is only the PS3)
The setting should be web-based.
connect a pc to your router using LAN/ethernet port.
Access the router (you should know the router
ip address) via IE ex: http://192.168.0.1/
Read your router manual for details.

you will need to obtain your wep key no matter what...you can get it from whoever your router company is (if it is a linksys then call the linksys support number and obtain the key) in most cases thought the wep key is located on the router itself near the bar code. It will be a long number, When you get it and enter it in to the network settings then it should pick up the signal
