Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3

1 Answer

No Motorola Modem

I have installed the Mobile Phone Tools. I have a RAZRv3. I run Windows xpsp2. I use a Sierra Wireless AirCard 875u to connect to the internet.

AT&T is the providers for both phone and aircard.

I get to the Welcome to the Phone Setup Wizard. Click on cable, click on next and then it pops up the window searching for modem. It runs and runs and runs. When I check Task Manager it tells me The program is not responding.

I have no modem. I have done the 1.2.0.1 Driver tool. When I go to Mototrola Driver Installation.exe in my Programs and run it it tells me
{Drivers} motmodem.sys appears to be current.

No Motorola modem in control panel phone and modem or in device manager.

I have been at this for over a week now,I sure hope you can help me.

Thanks
Vicki

    Hi Bajanguru

    I uninstalled MPT. Downloaded Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.4.0

Installed MPT, reinstalled the driver per the instructions from motodev.

Still getting ' this program is not responding' on the handset and live update.

    Have also been getting

Fatal error, there was a problem installing this hardware mototrola usb modem.

After installing MPT a window pops up wanting you to do Live Update, it says if you connect with a mobile phone to make a new data connection and then the sentence is not complete.

I have wondered since I use a wireless usb aircard if this is the reason I cannot get any of this to work.

I don't know how to make a new data connection and if the sentence would have been complete I would have given it a try.

They should double check their software before releasing it.

Thank you very much for your response and suggestions.

HOWTO_Connect How to connect Motorola W375 to a Windows computer Introduction¶ This document describes how to connect your Motorola W375 to your computer in order to use it as a modem, or to administer it with Motorola W375 Manager software.
Connecting¶ To connect your motorola W375, follow the next steps:
  • Download and uncompress Motorola W375 Driver from this site.
  • Connect your W375 to your computer with its lid closed.
(You can also connect the device with its lid open, and choose "not" when it asks for permission to connect as an storage device)
  • When Windows asks you for a driver, select Motorola W375 driver folder.
This way, the next time you connect your mobile phone closed, your computer will recognize it as a new communications port and you are ready to use it with Motorola W375 Manager. If you open this "COM" port with a terminal emulation software (i.e Windows Hiperterminal) and type "AT", the mobile phone will respond you with an "OK" string.
Using it with Motorola W375 Manager¶ To use your mobile with Motorola W375 Manager, simply connect your mobile phone closed and then, start Motorola W375 Manager software.
Using it as a modem¶ To use your mobile phone as a modem, install "Standard 19200 Modem" driver and select the communications port associated to your motorola W375.
About Motorola W375 driver¶ Motorola W375 driver is basically the same driver known as Motorola USB Charging Driver. If you try to use Motorola USB Charging driver directly with your Motorola W375, device type will not be recognized, but if you change device ID from "USB\VID_2811&PID_0702" to "USB\VID_22b8&PID_4061", this usb charging driver will become completely compatible with wour Motorola W375 mobile phone. The driver you can download from this site, is exactly a Motorola USB Charging driver with the mentioned modification.

My Moto SLVR L7>>to My Laptop connection

First, remove motorola phone tools from you HP PC and restart your computer. Get a fresh start. Power your phone down as well. Once the computer is back up, install motorola mobile phone tool from www.motorola.com you'll have to register, however it's free!
I FINALLY got Motorola Phone Tools to function with Vista. Download the latest drivers from Motorola here. You have to register, but its free. Download the file, unplug the phone, and run the installation (unzip the file, then right click on it, and select Install),
Next, restart Mobile Phone Tools. Vista will nag you about 10 times for each unsigned driver it is installing, but be patient - you will eventually get through the install routine. Finally, plug your phone in - it will be discovered and the correct drivers will be installed

With Windows vista it takes a little time to get it going. Because of all the firewalls. At least that is what I have experience with this program in the pass.

Cheers!
