Question about Televison & Video

1998 Sony Rear Video Projector won't power up.

I have a 1998 Sony rear video projector TV, Model KP61V75- Serial # 9000933. There was a power outage yesterday for about six hours. When the power went out I turned off all the circuit breakers in the electrical panel including the main.

When the power came back on I switched on each breaker individually. The TV, sat. receiver and a CD player are all connected to the same surge protector. My problem is this. The sat. receiver and CD player all power up and the surge protector is working. (light is on) On the Sony the only thing that comes is the red light which blinks on and off at a steady rate. I assume the TV is getting power since the red light is blinking on and off.

The TV was on and working when the power went out. Is this something that can be fixed simply and cheaply or is it time to shop. I really like this TV and would like to continue to use it if possible.

Hi. I don't think the power outage caused your problem, I would first check the secondary fuse inside the PTV if there is one, I think your problem is the Horizontal transistor is blowed, this is located need the big grey transformer called the Horizontal transformer, or normaly T501 on the board, check to see if it is blowed, it may also be your convergence ic's, very commond, if I'm not mistaken it is located on the right hand side in the back, on that board there should be also 2 fused, see if they or open, not clear on your model, check assuming, if one of those fuses or blown then you know it is convergence.
Keep in mind a shop has to charge to cover there cost of service, it is narmaly run's about $40./hr and up, I know it is frustating to see big invoices, but they must charge to servive. I don't make enough in service, this is why I have another source of income. Don't think the industry would change but get worse. It seem's everyone just want to add to there credit card and by new one's all the time, then there the first one's to complian were the service. With time I've notice it's harder, and harder to get part's expesialy big compagny's that won't answer any question over and over again, I'm just a small figure to them and with there most famast line, send it to us, that just inposible, I just don't get it, it's to expensive what or they thinking sending a 60" PTV 10 hr's away, who would pay for shipping along.

Well I hope this help's, keep in mind sony, panasonicto and RCA to me is the worse for service when it comes for any type of help.

I need to know how to fix the sound on a 48" Sony Rear Video Projector KP-48V45

Its most likely an issue with the audio out IC . Most parts have been discontinued for that model but if you send a email request for assistance to customerservice@tvrepairworld.com they will help and they should have the audio IC available for that model.
