DSC-F717 "Memory Stick Error"

I guess I'm having the same problem with the DSC-F707 owner here. I've tried the same things, memory stick in and out, power on and off, tried new memory sticks but still " MEMORY STICK ERROR" shows up on screen.
How do I fix this? How do I reformat the memory stick? Please help. Thanks in advance for your help, anyone...

I have the same problem "memoy stick Error" appears on my camera┬┤s screen. How do I fix it???

I have the same problem. I researched this in the past and there is a problem with the ribbon wire that attaches the memory stick reader to the camera coming loose. It has nothing to do with your memory stick. The occasional whack on the side will temporarity fix it but eventually, you or a technician has to open her up fix it. I am trying to find the instrcutions again on making a repair but I haven't found it yet. otherwise the only fix is buy a new camera.

As 'debacle" already pointed out, the "no memory stick" error is likely caused by the ribbon cable connecting the memory stick bay. Instructions for how to fix this problem can be found on this web page. Following these instructrions, I had the problem on my F707 solved in less than 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, the ribbon wire that attaches your memory stick reader to your camera is coming loose. I am having the same problem. The occasiona whakc on the side will temporarity fix it but the only real fix is to open her up. I found some instructions once for an at home fix, but now that I really need it, I can't find it.

OK, I found my printed instructions and the web site to fix this memory stick error. I just did the repair and took 30 pics w/o any problem. Last night I couldn't take one picture without the message and finally it would not go away no matter what I did. I think this fix works. Check out this web site http://hbar.servebeer.com/text/f707/ . GOOD LUCK.

I had the same problem and fixed it by formating my memory stick on the camera that had the problem. It still didnt work but then I took the memory stick to another sony camera and formated it on that camera then placed it back in the camera that didnt work and it worked. Dont know why or if it will keep working but i dont get the "no memory" anymore.

The Sony DSC-F717 will only take upto a 256MB Memory Stick - larger size Memory Sticks will give the C: 13:01 error. Use a correct memory stick and your camera should be fine. Regards, Andrew

remove the memory stick, you should be able to see the backend of the stick, push it in and it will pop out. after removing the stick try operating the camera again.

I insert a memory stick and it says "No memory Stick" although it will take and record pictures . Does anyone know where i can purchase a 128 Memory stick for the DSC -F707?

You should purchase online from some secure seller.
Like here, its Sandisk Homepage.
search for the compatible Card from the bottom right tab.

Also Note that DSC -F707 doesn't support more than 128-Mb cards.

If helpful, Kindly DO RATE!
Best Regards.

Sony digital dsc-f707 startup goes to "no memory stick"

Could be that the contacts on the camera are oxidised. Try cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and see if this helps. If not, it could indicate a circuitry problem. In this case, you'd probably be better off buying a new cam altogether!

Hi

Switch your camera to Setup on the control **** located on the top.

Take out the memory stick and press the reset button located inside the battery compartment.

Now switch on the camera and insert the memory stick.

If you do not get the error go to the little toolbox on the menu. Select the format option and proceed through the warning messages. Remeber you will loose all data on the memory stick.

Things should now work. If not some simple thing that sound bezare but has worked for me is pushing the memory stick in and out before the camera displays the error. Do this several times until the camera actually reads the stick and them format the stick first chance you get.

Good luck.

Try and clean the contacts at the memory stick slot by using a contact cleaning solution. The solution should be available with any Philips service dealer or PC shops.

Have you tried re-formatting the cards? If you can't with the camera you should be able to with a card reader. It's probably the camera, unfortunately, but this is worth a shot...

F707 type of memory stick?

I bought a Lexar 256MB, since the F707 can't use PRO or anything about 128mb, it has two 128mb on one stick. There's a switch on the stick to change it when the first 128mb is full.
