Try a manual setup instead. Most Linksys routers use the default network address of 192.168.1.1.

Plug the Linksys directly into your PC using one of the router ports (usually numbered 1 through 4 on the back of the Linksys). Once you see the computer has a network connection - this takes a moment - open Internet Explorer and type in the following address:

http://192.168.1.1

The default username and password for most Linksys devices is a blank username and the password: admin.

If this does not work - and if you inherited this device from someone else - perform a reset first. There is a small reset button on the back of each Linksys. Using a pen tip or something small hold that down while powered up for a few seconds.

I hope this helps...

Lost Install Disk

You don't need the install disk to use the router. If you plug in the router and press the reset button on the back of the router, the you should be able to connect to the network using only the windows wireless program.

Connection

Hi Susie
With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem.
Here is a video as well on it?

Lost disk

Umm, try going to the linksys website, but to be honest, I have set up several linksys networks using your type of router and it works perfectly fine without the setup cd.

Lost startup disk

Are you trying to get the router settings through the IP address 192.168.1.1? If that doesn't respond, look at the back of the router for a small reste hole. With the router power plugged in, use a paper clip to reset the router config back to default. Hold the reste switch in for 30 seconds and pull the power afterwards while holding the switch in. Try that. There really shouldn't be a set-up disc needed for Windows XP or Vista. If you are using a DSL connection, I am sorry to inform you, but there is only 1 dependable router for wireless DSL and it is made by D-link. If you still feel you need a set-up disc, look on linksys website and search their archived download section.
