Yes, I have the same issue. By prizing open the case there appears to be another 2 screw lugs inside at the bottom near the existing torx screws.

From searching another forum where a user had disassembled a TomTom 300 you may have to prize off the front bezel surrounding the LCD screen. As this has been sealed with a waterproof rubber membrane it is stuck down very well.

I believe once this has been removed the 2 screws will be accessable.

On the rear at the bottom of the unit are 2 hidden screws hidden behind round caps.

Remove the plastic lugs with a small screw driver to reveal 2 Torx T6 screws.

Gently split the case and remove the cable running from the rear 4 pin cradle connector to the motherboard at the 3 pin socket.

Now you can replace the battery easily.

Purchased 62 piece security bit from Maplin, which contains all the bits to remove the screws on my Tomtom rider, 6 screws in total. Two of the screws were to deep for the bit to reach so I gently drill the hole a little larger with a large drill bit to allow me to reach screws. Be carefull not to go too deep otherwise you may damage screw heads.

I have a Tom Tom XL 4et03. I am fairly certain that the battery has collapsed. It will not charge either by the car charger or the computer USB. It doe not have screws holding it together and I cannot...

There are two small screws under the label on the bottom of the unit.(peel back each end of label to see). You then carefully pry the unit open via the bezel on front. Remove three srews securing the micro processor board to expose the battery and replace. Hardest part is finding the tiny torx driver necessary to remove screws.

Replace battery on my om tom go 300

original battery ICR18650-24 sometimes marked Type VF5 or similar. Battery

.
  • Remove the front screen surround -- just gently prying does the trick. (Img 1)
  • Undo four T8 screws holding internal works to outside body. (Img 2)
  • Remove internal works from body. There is a cover/clip for the bottom panel (where the car mount connects) that just falls out once the insides come out -- pay attention to how it fits in, so that it can be replaced on reassembly.
  • At the base you will see silver foil covering (Img 5), the foil needs to be peeled back in places, but I left as much of it on as possible (unlike the images I'm referencing).
  • Peel back the foil around the speaker, and remove the two T8 screws, being careful not to disconnect the speaker -- it only needs to be moved aside. (Img 6)
  • Continue peeling back the foil down to the circuit board, but leave the board itself covered. You will need to manipulate, but not remove, the thin metal "cage" that is shown removed and behind the unit in Img 11.
  • On the still-covered circuit board there are four T6 screws that need to be removed. These screws can be seen in Image 11 -- one on either edge at the bottom, and one on either side of the car mount in the middle top.
  • With the foil loosened and the screws removed, manipulate the metal "cage" to expose the two T6 screws securing the black plastic battery holder (plainly visible in Img 11). Be very careful not to accidentally disconnect any of the wires/cables.
  • Remove the battery holder, unclip the old battery, replace with new one, and reassemble. (Img 16)
  • The unit should be able to power up as soon as the new battery is connected, so I tested it a few times as I reassembled, just to be sure I hadn't jostled anything loose as I went along.

Pls describe the size and type of security screw on tomtom RIDER

I have tomtom rider 1.
There are 3 sizes of Torx screws; 3 sets of 2 screws each.
The largest is at the top back. I watched a fellow on YouTube take the back off. That was very helpful.
Someone called that T6 screw. I found a little set of security torx drivers for this.
The 2 bottom corner screws are smaller and then inside that on each side of the door are 2 more (smaller size but longer) screws.
Then carefully take the back off. There are wires connecting the back to the main board.
Take the card out before you try to take the back off.
Hope it works ok for you.

Tomtom rider 1 not charging when on bike

TOMTOM are VERY aware of this problem. but deny it is an issue!
I had the same problem, they sent me a new shoe after weeks of emails. I told them that the shoe is not the problem, it's the connector on the back of the TT1. Because of the springloaded pins fitted to the shoe and the poor quality connectors on the TT the normal vibration on a motorcycle causes the pins to wear holes in the connectors on the TT causing intermittant connection.
As the cost of repairing or replacing these connectors is very high and there are a large number of units that would require this repair TT are ignoring it.
I'm now looking at a way of bypassing the connector altogether.
A temporary solution appears to be to smear the contacts on the back of the rider with a little petroleum grease or WD40 - seems to work for a couple of weeks at a time.

How to replace internal battery

Remove the Front facia surround Undo four screws holding internal works to outside body You will need a T6 star screwdriver for this. Remove internal works from body at the base you will see silver foil covering feel over this you will find 4 T5 star screws securing this remove these and also remove speaker by two locating T8 star screws. Gently remove the electronic board keep all locating cables intact You will then see two T4 star screws holding battery holder remove these and the plastic holder .Unclip battery and disconnect from Pcb Board fit new battery and reassemble. .
