I ordered a new battery for my LG Vx9800 Verizon phone, with more maH. When I insert the new battery in the phone, the message "use genuine battery" appears and turns off in 10 seconds and won't allow me to charge it. There is nothing wrong with the phone and It works fine with the orginal battery.

Re: "use genuine battery" message
Because you are using a battery with more mAH your phone is not getting it. Have you got the same from LG, if so ask them for compatible battery. If not don't try such things. Better you get two batteries of lower mAH.

Not exactly a solution. I tried leaving it off overnight and tried it several times after removing and inserting the batteries. I also cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner and a Q tip. It did not fix it. But I just left it off for 2 days meaning to go to the Verizon store and get it fixed or replaced. But I turned it on now and it fixed itself! Model VX8300. Maybe the contact cleaning did it but it had to dry more. You can use a Q Tip dipped in a cup of water with a teaspoon of Mr.Clean. But then rinse it with a water wet Q tip and then dry it with a paper towel. I used contact cleaner.
