I have the same problem- none of the keys work, including the side buttons. The trackball will move up and down, but will not allow me to click on any icons. My phone rings & I am unable to answer the call.
I have a mac, so the desktop manager that came with the phone does not work on my computer.
I already transfered my address book by using Pocket Mac, but my main concern in my text messages (sms), and BBMs.
Is there anyway I can access these or transfer them to my computer? I know you can forward them through email, but I am unable to do that because the keys do not work. It's vital that I see my text messages!
    Thanks so much

i took my phone out of my pocket and the screen was all black. it wouldnt turn on at first so i took the battery out. when it turned on it was the normal screen like usual and my trackball was scrolling up and down but i couldnt select anything, and the keyboard didnt work as well. i tried taking the battery out again but nothing helped it.

The keys on my BB Pearl don't work or work very sporadically. Especially my trackball can move up or down but when I click it, nothing happens and so I cannot get into my phone (since it is locked) and cannot even answer. Some water may have gotten in since my hands and/or ear was wet but did my best to dry it out in the hot Texas sun. Still acts up, though. Any thought? Thanks.

Hey everyone! so i had my blackberry wet! not even wet but some drops of water fell on it and the keypad didnt work, the trackball moved but didnt do anything when it was clicked.. all of the symptons many people here had! so my solution is not the idealistic one but this is what i did:
1. do a backup of all your information through the blackberry desktop manager
2. take it to a place where they fix cell phones! they know what to do
mines got fixed somewhere in hialeah, FL where there is a lot of little stores that fix cell phones and computers
the good thing is that i paid $35 which i loved since i still have my same cell phone with the same PIN!!
3. restore it in the desktop manager and everything is back to normal!
sorry if my answer isnt the one you liked but im 17 and i even cried when it didnt work after it got wet so good luck!

If you havent tried this before, do a hard reset, take the battery out etc. if you have done that or if this doesnt work, run the application loader on the blackberry desktop manager that is on that CD that came with the phone.

double click the application loader icon on the screen and the application loader wizard will pop up....just keep pressing next until it comes to a white screen where it says no actions are requried....select advanced. select the first box that says erase all application data and select next. after that, select the fist butotn and the check box below that says automatically back up.

at this point, keep clicking next. its going to uninstall and reistall all of your data. it shouldnt delete anything unless theres a system glitch. but bassically youre doing a master reset. unless you spilled water on the keypad, this should fix the issue.

Ringer Not Working Properly

i would check your profiles. usually the default setting for the load profile is for it to vibrate twice and then ring, so that usually only gave you two rings to answer the phone after it vibrated twice. make sure that within your profile setting that you have it to ring with a tone, and make sure you have a volume selected. i would also use blackberry desktop manager and perform a back up or sync of your blackberry, and then perform a wipe handheld. the wipe hand held feature is in your options---security---general settings---and then press your options button (right of the trackball) and select wipe hand held. you will type the word blackberry and then it will wipe the handset. after it resets try the volume before you restore it, if you still don't have volume your speaker is bad.

My blackberry pearl trackball doesnt work

Take it where you bought it and try to get it replaced, saying it's defective. Hopefully you're under warranty, unlike myself who has a **** blackberry who's radio keeps turning off randomly and won't make or recieve calls without having to manually reconnect 'mobile network' hundreds of times a day. Your phone must have got really wet though because buttons and **** don't ******* unless exposed to extremly wet conditions (trust me, I know). I'd like an iphone over this **** for damn sure but i'm stuck with any annoying and fairly useless phone for now.

more than likely the connection inside the phone for the speaker has broken or become loose. I would recommend taking to your cell phone provider and seeing if they have any means of fixing or replacing the phone.

Blackberry pearl turns off when i touch the rollerball

Try a different ball in the device they are fairly easy to remove. Borrow a friends entire track ball use nail file to remove the ring then look to make sure what way the mechanism and ring go back in and try your firends if his/hers works in your phone replace the defective part. 2b4daea.jpg fb71594.jpgeb3c8be.jpg
