Question about Canon PowerShot A550 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Review mode not fuctioning.

When using review mode the camera continually flips through all of the images instead of displaying one at at time.

The telephoto/closeup control has also ceased to fuction in both review mode and picture taking mode.

I have replaced the cr1220 battery have fully charged batteries in place.

I have had the camera since Christmas.

Recommend contacting Canon support as soon as possible. If you've only had it since Christmas, it's still under warranty, and Canon should fix this for you for free. Here's the link to your warranty:

Make sure you set it to "auto-review" and that the time is long enought to look at it. Pressing the shutter release will skip the image review and keep the LCD in shooting mode.

When I turn my camera on, the lcd doesn't display. I can review an image though in the play mode. any ideas??

Rebel XT doesn’t have live view function. You cannot have picture on LCD when taking picture. If you can review the pictures and operate menu on LCD, your camera just fine.

Similar problems as other readers. camera turns on but no real time image on LCD screen. LCD contiues to show settings i.e. full auto mode etc. But I can view pictures already taken. Thanks

The XTi and prior EOS models have not capability to see the live image to be shoot on the screen. Only the image after taken can see on the screen. Other images also using the view mode.

If you can't review the images, eve if the display is turned off, just after they are taken, maybe the "Review time" is set to "off". Go to settings, 3th tab, Review time and set the desired setting.

Display window is blank and not showing image being shot

Try pressing the display button when playing back an image. Also check the custom settings menu for your review tiume settings. Mine is set at 2 seconds. Perhaps there is an option not to review the image...though I need to check.

My digital Rebel XT screen has stopped working while taking photos. How did I turn it off and how do I rectify the issue. Thanks

Hi

Your camera doesn't have 'live view' so you can't see what you're taking pictures of before you take the picture, you can only review them after you take the photo.

In the camera settings there will be one for how long the image is displayed after taking a picture, you can access it by pressing "Menu" then scrolling down to "Review" and setting the time you would like it to display.

Keep in mind you can't take photos one after the other quickly if you have the review mode turned on!

Hope this helps,

Battery life?

Using the LCD viewfinder to compose images drains the power capacity of alkaline batteries very quickly. Instead, use the Optical viewfinder to compose your images. Under normal operating conditions using the Optical viewfinder, a set of AA-size alkaline batteries should last for about 35 images. Additional tips for extending battery life: * Use the AC adapter to review images on the LCD. * Use the AC adapter to review images on your TV. * Disable Quick Review mode. * For longer battery life, use one of the following types of batteries: o High capacity alkaline (a new product on the market as of Jan 2000) o Lithium o NiMh (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable. o NiCd (Nickel-Cadium)
