-   I have the exact same problem! It is asking me <MEMORY RECALL OK?> all the time! It looks random though.
It looks like my <Down Button> and my <2> button are not 'accesible'. By that I mean that I cannot make them work. The other buttons work fine. Especially the <1> which means <EXIT> when the prompt <MEMORY RECALL OK?> comes up.
I hope some of you guys had that and knew how to solve it.
The only thing I can see that would resolve my problem momentarily is to create a robot that pushes the !!!! button when the prompt comes up.
From the Users Manual for this monitor: "Memory Recall returns the adjustments back to factory settings if the display is operating in a factory Preset Timing Mode listed in the Specifications of this manual. - Exception: This control does not affect changes made with the User Color control, Language Select or Power Lock setting."
When the monitor is asking "Memory Recall OK?" it either wants to initiate a settings Recall, or it's asking if the Recall was successful. In either case, the "Memory Recall OK?" message is supposed to go away when you push either button 1 or button 2.
If it does this when you are adjusting settings then it's likely just doing what you told it to, even if you don't realize you told it to do that.
It's also possible for one of the settings buttons to be stuck down and this is causing it to try and change the Recall settings. Push each of the buttons on the monitor and pay attention to what each one feels like as you push on it. If one of them feels different from the others, it's likely stuck.
Tapping lightly on the settings buttons or on the panel beside them will usually free up a stuck button. If a button is stuck and won't loosen up by tapping beside it, you might need to pry up on the edges of the button VERY gently with the sharp tip of a pointy kitchen knife.
If it's doing this when you did not touch any of the settings buttons at all, then this is likely being caused by a dendrite whisker or faulty circuit trace inside the monitor and you'll need to take the monitor to a service technician for repair. But remember to contact Viewsonic first and go to whatever Service Center that they advise, since a repair of this type may be covered under warranty.
One other thing you could try before spending money on it is simply to change the Timing mode in the Windows display settings. Go to "Control Panel > Display", then select the "Settings" tab and click the "Advanced" button. Select the "Monitor" tab and change the screen timing to a different Hertz value in the "Screen refresh rate" menu box. Don't forget to save these settings by clicking "Apply" and "OK" to close all of the Windows settings windows.
