Question about Kelvinator 12 cu. ft. / 340 liter Chest Freezer KDC-47
The defrost cycle in the freezer melts the ice each day and the resulting water drips out of the freezer compartment through a short pipe and in my Kelvinator 520F it drips into a small funnel in the fridge section right under the short pipe from the freezer. In my case that was behind the chiller section. The small funnel clips into the back wall and directs water into a concealed pipe that empties the water on top of the compressor where the heat will evaporate it. In my case the small funnel was clogged with old frozen debris from the bottom of the freezer. The funnel overflowed into the fridge section and then onto the floor. It was very hard to see if you didn't know what to look for.
The inner floor and back wall of the freezer can be unclipped,(there was one screw) which revealed where all the spillages had gone over the last 10 years. Yuk. Job for the vac.
Put the funnel back in and tip a small quantity of water into the drain in the back of the freezer, watch it come out on top of the compressor/motor. If it doesn't freely flow then the pipe is also blocked. Try the vac to unclog it. If it doesn't flow freely then the funnel will overflow for sure so you will have to find another way to clear the concealed drain pipe. Maybe wire or compressed air.

The freezer defrosts every day. the puddle is from that. It is supposed to go into a pan at the bottom and evaporate. You need to look at the pan and determine if it has a hole or the drain hose is leaking somewhere.

Tips for a great answer:
If your refrigerator leaks water, you have a problem with either a water line or a drain line. If your refrigerator has an automatic icemaker or a water dispenser, the water supply line could be broken. Automatic icemakers have a drain line that runs down to the drain pan beneath the fridge. Mold build-up inside the drain line can lead to a rupture that allows water to escape .A broken drain line can also lead to water leaking from your refrigerator.
